Davey Folsom wrapped up a highly\u00a0successful prep career with a\u00a0trip to the state track and field championships in Clovis last weekend.
\nFolsom recently won the Div. II championships in the shot put with a toss of 55 feet, 10 inches.
\n“This is my third time winning CIF,” Folsom said. “It\u2019s been the best three years of high school sports. It\u2019s an accomplishment. At state, I\u2019ll have more opportunity to prove myself.”
\nStanding 6 foot 4 inches tall and weighing 315 pounds, Folsom also found success on the gridiron as an offensive guard where he routinely flattened opposing players while throwing blocks for his teammates.
\nHis dominance was easily noted by opposing coaches and players and Folsom was named first team all-CIF each of the past two seasons.
\nMike Estanol, who also coaches football at PLHS, is Folsom’s shot put coach.
\n“He started as a baseball player and has applied the fundamentals of batting to the shot put,” Estanol noted. “He\u2019s studied this sport and gone far with it. He\u2019s one of the most coachable athletes I\u2019ve ever been around.”
