San Diego County Sheriff\u2019s deputies will be increasing patrols on Super Bowl Sunday. Don\u2019t drink and drive or you\u2019ll get penalized and “benched.”
\nWatch for increased DUI patrols by deputies across the county beginning on Sunday at 3 p.m. and lasting through 5 a.m. the following day.
\nRemember: impaired driving doesn\u2019t just refer to alcohol. It can also include marijuana and prescription drugs.
\n“There is simply no excuse for impaired driving,” said Sheriff Bill Gore. “One bad decision can end in tragedy.”
\nIn 2018, deputies arrested 1,183 people for impaired driving in San Diego County. That\u2019s down from 1,225 arrests in 2017.
\nThe Sheriff\u2019s Department has these pregame tips for a safe Super Bowl Sunday: \u2022 Plan a safe way home before the game begins. \u2022 Before drinking, designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home. \u2022 If you\u2019re impaired, use a taxi, ride-hailing service, call a sober friend or family member or use public transportation. \u2022 If you see an impaired driver on the road, call 9-1-1 immediately.
