A traffic collision in Ocean Beach last Saturday afternoon left concerned firefighters on scene while ownership of an electrical box was tracked.
\nTwo vehicles collided\u00a0at the intersection of Long Branch Avenue and Bacon Street around 4 p.m. One of the involved cars jumped the curb and struck a large green box, leaving the box’s door bent and damaged.
\nWhen it was found there were no injuries, paramedics were cancelled and San Diego Police began taking a written report.\u00a0
\nHowever, concerned firefighters from Ocean Beach’s Station 15 were hesitant to leave the scene because of the possibility the box could contain high voltage wires that could cause serious injury to someone. They put up red “danger” tape around the box while blocking traffic with their engine.
\nA call was placed to San Diego Gas & Electric asking them to respond and assess the situation. But after firefighters radioed the number found on the box several times to their dispatch center, it was discovered after about 20 minutes the box was apparently the property of AT&T.
\nAfter an extended time firefighters felt assured the box was not a danger to the public and left the scene.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
