Flames erupted around this recreational vehicle during the early morning hours of Dec. 8 in Ocean Beach, gutting the vehicle and sending its homeless owner to the hospital with severe burns, according to investigators. When firefighters arrived, the flames \u2014 possibly ignited by unattended candles \u2014 had fully engulfed the front of the RV as it was parked in front of a graphics store on Bacon Street at the intersection with Santa Monica Avenue. The RV\u2019s owner, described by fire officials as a middle-age homeless man, was transported to the hospital with severe burns across his entire body. The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was said to be alive, but not coherent. Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze in less than a half-hour. While fire officials reported finding several candles inside the vehicle, they said they also had not ruled out arson.
