{"id":290204,"date":"2019-08-31T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-08-31T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/ebers-greene-monstrosity-torn-down\/"},"modified":"2019-08-31T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-08-31T07:00:00","slug":"ebers-greene-monstrosity-torn-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/ebers-greene-monstrosity-torn-down\/","title":{"rendered":"Ebers-Greene \u2018monstrosity\u2019 torn down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Work began Aug. 14 on a remodel of the three-story, boarded-up Ebers-Greene project at 2269 Ebers St., which some have referred to as a &#8220;monstrosity.&#8221;<br \/>\nReports are that the property, now owned by Irving-based Center Street Lending, failed to attract a buyer at a foreclosure auction this spring.<br \/>\nCenter City has since made a scope change to the project permit calling for a complete remodel to the residence\u2019s first and second floors, as well constructing a new roof deck.<br \/>\nIn November 2017, the City sent a Notice of Abatement to then-owner Nelco Properties, LLC, informing them their abandoned building at 2269 Ebers had been inspected by the City\u2019s Code Enforcement Division and the Development Services Department which determined the building was abandoned and that it &#8220;contained enough threats to the public\u2019s health and safety to constitute a public nuisance.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe City notice further directed &#8220;immediate actions&#8221; to clean up and secure the site of the then-abandoned building.<br \/>\nNelco purchased the four-bedroom, two-bath home, built in 1927, for $645,000 in 2015.
