The San Diego Padres recently announced they have agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Adrian Morejon. The agreement with Morejon is pending a physical. Executive vice president\/general manager A.J. Preller made the announcement.
\n“To bring a player of Adrian\u2019s talent into our system is a tremendous addition,” said Preller. “With the commitment from ownership through our amateur acquisitions in both the MLB Draft and International market, we\u2019re excited about the depth we\u2019ve added this year to our player development system.”
\nThe 17-year-old led Cuba\u2019s 15-Under league with 113 strikeouts in 68.0 innings in 2014, posting a 1.93 ERA against just 40 walks. Morejon was later named Most Valuable Player of the 15-Under World Cup in Mexico, tossing a complete game with 12 strikeouts in Cuba\u2019s 6-3 victory over the United States in the gold medal game.
