The San Diego Padres have finalized their Opening Day 25-man roster, executive vice president\/general manager A.J. Preller announced on March 28.
\nThe club has selected the contract of infielder\u00a0Fernando Tatis Jr.\u00a0(will wear No. 23), designated right-handed pitcher\u00a0Bryan Mitchell\u00a0for assignment\u00a0and optioned infielders\u00a0Ty France,\u00a0Jose Pirela\u00a0and\u00a0Luis Ur\u00edas, right-hander\u00a0Gerardo Reyes\u00a0and left-hander\u00a0Brad Wieck\u00a0to Triple-A El Paso.\u00a0
\nIn addition, right-handers\u00a0Miguel Diaz\u00a0(torn meniscus),\u00a0Brett Kennedy\u00a0(shoulder strain) and\u00a0Jacob Nix\u00a0(elbow strain) have been placed on the 10-day Injured List.
\nYesterday, the club claimed outfielder\u00a0Socrates Brito\u00a0off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks and placed outfielder\u00a0Travis Jankowski\u00a0(broken left wrist) on the 60-day IL. Brito will wear No. 11.
