Point Loma High’s Academic League team completed its regular season undefeated, winning the championship of the city’s Central Division and earning entry to the “Final Four” of citywide academia.
\nThe San Diego City Championships were held on April 7 at the San Diego County Office of Education’s Instructional Television Studio. There they watched La Jolla High defeat Madison in a 4 p.m. match.
\nThe Pointers took the stage at 5 p.m., defeating Patrick Henry to move to the finals.
\nThe finals, held immediately after at 6 p.m., saw the Vikings hand the Pointers their first defeat of the season, leaving them as city runners-up in the 2016 Academic League competition.\u00a0
\nThis marks the first time the team has qualified for the final round. The competition was filmed for future broadcast on the San Diego Education cable channel.
