The northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to eastbound Balboa Avenue will be closed on Sunday from 3 to 10 a.m. to accommodate construction activities for the Mid-Coast Trolley Extension Project.
\nChangeable message signs will be placed in advance of the closure detouring motorists to take the northbound I-5 exit at Clairemont Drive\/Mission Bay Drive.
\nAlso on Sunday from 6 to 8:30 a.m., all northbound and southbound lanes on I-5 near Balboa Avenue will be subject to several closures of about 10 minutes. Closure duration may be longer as needed to ensure public safety.
\nThe Mid-Coast Trolley Project will extend Blue Line service from Old Town north to the University City community The San Diego Association of Governments began major construction on the project in 2016, with service anticipated to begin in 2021.
