Now in its <\/span><\/span>14<\/span><\/span>el<\/span><\/span> year, A<\/span><\/span>rtWalk @ Liberty Station is returning to <\/span><\/span>Ingram Plaza Aug. 10-11 <\/span><\/span>con<\/span> fine art, live music and interactive experiences. Sister festival to <\/span>Misi\u00f3n<\/span> Federal ArtWalk in Little Italy<\/span> (San Diego’s original outdoor fine art festival), t<\/span>he event will feature <\/span><\/span>m\u00e1s que<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>200 local, national, and international professional artists — including La Jolla-based artists Korin Chapman and Gail Titus. <\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n

Bird Rock resident<\/span><\/span> Korin Chapman is a mixed media artist who draws her <\/span><\/span>inspiration from the natural world, aiming to recreate the depth and mesmerizing spectacles of different landscapes. Her recent focus is on creating realistic aerial paintings by <\/span><\/span>hand<\/span><\/span>–<\/span><\/span>sculpting rocks and<\/span><\/span> landforms and then pouring layers of tinted resin down to recreate the depth and realism in her aerial oceans.<\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n

“This is my first time showing in the <\/span>ArtWalk <\/span>en<\/span> <\/span>Estaci\u00f3n de la libertad<\/span>,” she said. “However, I have been to it many times. I am excited to have my own<\/span> booth, be a part of the show, meet new people, and see how the community reacts to my work.<\/span> <\/p>\n

“I like my visitors to feel a sense of wonder and comfort when looking at my art. There are hidden details in every piece that draw people into the art. I like to<\/span> create known beaches, so someone can feel connected to the piece, reminding them of a favorite vacation, honeymoon, or happy place. I also create unknown or made-up beaches to allow individuals to imagine their own beach.”<\/span> <\/p>\n

Abstract painter and La Jolla r<\/span>esident Gail Titus uses a variety of tools and techniques to create compositions that explore textures, colors, and forms. She explains that her inspiration comes from her environment and is, “not limited to the textures, colors, and light but also motions<\/span> and sounds.” <\/span> <\/p>\n

“Sometimes a painting will have the feel of music or movement that I see while watching waves hit the surface of the land,” she said. <\/span>

Although Titus has showed her work at the Mission Federal ArtWalk in Little Italy, this is her first tim<\/span><\/span>e as a featured artist at ArtWalk @ Liberty Station. She looks forward to the broad range of individuals who come to view the artwork. “Everybody brings their individual experiences to the artwork. What I appreciate most is for a viewer to take the time to<\/span><\/span> really look at the work and take away their own unique reactions to what they see.”<\/span><\/span>

Attendance to the event is free, and there will be plenty of parking.
