\nThere is no night on the yearly calendar quite as special as New Year\u2019s Eve. The imminent arrival of 2014 is the perfect excuse to celebrate with friends, food, drink and music, and the La Jolla area offers up plenty of options to wrap up the year. At intimate night spot Eddie V\u2019s, jazz piano aficionados will enjoy music from the Freddie A Dream Trio, playing standards in the V Lounge starting at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, at Caf\u00e9-Bar Europa, the venue will be transformed into the Turquoise Speakeasy for the night, with a vaudeville show and a band mixing ragtime and swing tunes for dancing, 7:30 p.m. Fans of blues, jazz and R&B will want to head to the Marine Room, where chanteuse Whitney Shay and her band will be holding court at 8 p.m. Finally, rock fans should head over to Beaumont\u2019s, where Slower will be counting down until midnight with a set of classic covers.
