This store was opened with the help of UnitedHealthcare. It partnered with Rady&#8217;s and gave a $10,000 grant to keep kids safe.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The store&#8217;s goal is to keep children safe whether they&#8217;re playing at home or participating in outdoor activities. At the new store, families can purchase sports products such as helmets, knee pads, and safety glasses as well as general household safety products. The store is conveniently located in the lobby of Rady Children&#8217;s Health Services building at 3665 Kearny Villa Road. For more information about the new store and its products, visit&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rchsd.org\/\">www.rchsd.org<\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<div><strong>SAN DIEGO HUMANE SOCIETY ANNUAL PHOTO FUNDRAISER&nbsp;<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>Submit your favorite photo of your pet for a chance to have them featured on a full month spread of the San Diego Humane Society&#8217;s 2020 calendar for its annual photo fundraiser. Other prizes include a professional photo shoot for your pet, tickets to SDHS&#8217;s annual Fur Ball Gala and other special gifts. All photo entries with&nbsp;<span>5 votes<\/span>&nbsp;or more are guaranteed&nbsp;inclusion in the calendar or on the collage pages.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Each year, the San Diego Humane Society &#8216;s photo fundraiser and pet calendar raises funds for its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gogophotocontest.com\/sdhumane2020\/pages\/5416\">vital services<\/a>&nbsp;which include animal sheltering and adoptions, investigations of animal cruelty and neglect, veterinary care, education programs for youth and adults, the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife and more.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>For more information or to enter your pet, visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gogophotocontest.com\/sdhumane2020\">gogophotocontest.com\/sdhumane2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LECTURE ON THE HISTORY OF SAN DIEGO LIFEGUARD SERVICE<br \/><\/strong><br \/><span>The Ocean Beach Historical Society will host a lecture on the history of San Diego&#8217;s lifeguard service at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 18 at Water&#8217;s Edge Faith Community, 1984 Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Michael Martino, former chief lifeguard with the California State Parks, will speak on life and death stories of San Diego lifeguards, which inspired his book &ldquo;HELP! San Diego Lifeguards to the Rescue.&rdquo; This event is free. We will be planting and weeding around&nbsp;California native plants,&nbsp;removing invasives, and working on trails at the&nbsp;Famosa Slough and Channel. Meet at&nbsp;the east of the corner of West Point&nbsp;Loma Boulevard and Famosa Boulevard at the gate to&nbsp;trail.&nbsp;Wear work clothes;&nbsp;preferably long pants, long-sleeved shirt, hat, and sturdy&nbsp;shoes.
