\nKate Sessions Elementary School has been fortunate to maintain a steady and stable staff for years. However, there comes a time when the travel, exercise and fun lures teachers into retirement.\u00a0So is the case for two teachers at Sessions. First-grade teacher Walda Brooks and kindergarten teacher Brenda Solis are retiring at the end of this school year.\u00a0 Brooks has been a teacher for 28 years and has taught at Sessions for the last 18 years.\u00a0 Solis has been at teacher for more than 30 years and has been a teacher at Sessions for 25 years. The Mission Bay Cluster and Kate Sessions Elementary School will miss you.
\nAlways a learner, Margaret Joseph, principal at Kate Sessions Elementary School, graduated on May 18, from San Diego State University with her Doctorate in educational leadership.\u00a0Joseph earned her B.A. in English at San Diego State University and earned her Master\u2019s Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of San Diego.\u00a0 She has modeled that there is no age limit to academic challenges.
\n\u2022 A big thanks to Sand Box Pizza, on the corner of Cass Street and Grand Avenue, for hosting Sessions\u2019 May Dine-Out. It generously supported our school dine-out, with 25 percent of sales coming back to Sessions. FRIENDS OF PACIFIC BEACH SECONDARY SCHOOLS
\nStudents, get in shape with Futures Fitness programs.\u00a0Take advantage of a great group workout opportunity for older students this summer from\u00a08 to 10 a.m. from June 23 to Aug. 1 at De Anza Cove.\u00a0The programs will be led by our own School Yard Dash organizers Pete Hess and Eric Marenburg, NCAA Track coaches.\u00a0The sessions will\u00a0be for seventh- through 12th-graders. These are group sessions, and you can come when you can.
