Two new murder suspects in the shotgun slaying of a man in Pacific Beach were charged on Feb. 22 with two other men who are also charged in the slaying.
\nPedro Ramirez, 27, and Carlos Yslas, 24, pleaded not guilty in the Dec. 29 shooting of Marcanthony Mendivil, 44, who was shot twice with a shotgun in a bedroom at 2364 Wilbur Ave. in Pacific Beach.
\nThe two new suspects join in the case with Paul Charles Weinberger, 50, and Freddy Sosa, 37, who are also charged with murder.
\nDeputy District Attorney Flavio Nominati told San Diego Superior Court Judge Jay Bloom that Yslas carried a shotgun in a bag upon entering the home at 1:45 a.m. and he pointed the weapon at the victim and others.
\nWeinberger lived in the home and had let Mendivil spend the night at the house. Weinberger\u2019s attorney, Paul Pfingst, said earlier that his client shot no one.
\nYslas was already in jail on a parole violation when he was charged with murder. Ramirez was also in jail on another case.
\nBoth Ramirez and Yslas pleaded not guilty and Bloom set bail for them at $3 million. The men are also accused of assault with a deadly weapon involving another occupant of the house and making a criminal threat.
\nA preliminary hearing was set for March 7, but it will likely be changed because Weinberger and Sosa have different court dates. Nominati said all four of them are charged with the murder and they will be joined together with the same hearing dates in March.
\nAt Weinberger\u2019s arraignment on Jan. 4, he fainted in the courtroom after hearing a judge set his bail at $10 million.
\nRamirez\u2019s attorney, Al Arena, said he just received the case and could not comment about it yet. The prosecutor said Ramirez is on probation for another offense. The motive has not been disclosed in court.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
