A book signing and conversation with Teri Turner, author and creator of the popular food and lifestyle blog\u00a0“No Crumbs Left,” will\u00a0be held at 6 p.m. on June 10 at Room & Board at Westfield UTC, 4525 La Jolla Village\u00a0Drive.<\/span>
\u00a0<\/span>
To celebrate the launch of her new cookbook \u2014 “No Crumbs Left: Whole30 Endorsed, Recipes for Everyday\u00a0Food Made\u00a0Marvelous” \u2014 Turner is kicking off a national book tour across 20 U.S. cities. The new Whole30-endorsed cookbook is on sale\u00a0May 21 and includes a passionate collection of recipes for everyday food\u00a0made marvelous. It is currently available for pre-order\u00a0now on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million,\u00a0Indie Bound and more.<\/span>

After a lively talk with Rachel Connors of @bakeritablog and a fun Q&A session, attendees will receive a\u00a0personalized book\u00a0(included in the ticket price) along with the opportunity to take a photo with Tuner and\u00a0Connors. Guests are also welcome to\u00a0bring a previously purchased book to the event for Turner to sign. If\u00a0you don\u2019t need the book that comes with your ticket, Turner\u00a0has offered to pay it forward to a Crumble who\u00a0may be unable to afford the cookbook.<\/span>

LA JOLLA SYMPHONY & CHORUS ANNOUNCES UPCOMING SEASON

The La Jolla Symphony & Chorus recently announced its 2019-2020 concert season featuring an\u00a0adventurous mix of traditional\u00a0repertoire, choral masterworks, premieres and more.\u00a0<\/span>

Highlights of the season include established masterpieces, like Brahms\u2019 “Symphony No. 3”\u00a0and Bartok\u2019s\u00a0“Concerto for\u00a0Orchestra,”\u00a0alongside first performances by Celeste Oram (Thomas Nee Commission) and\u00a0Anahita Abbasi (Brenda and Steven\u00a0Schick Commission) and a commissioned work for orchestra and\u00a0amplified percussion by the great American composer Michael\u00a0Pisaro.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The LJS&C completes its cycle of the Florence Price violin concertos with Co-Concertmaster Peter Clarke as\u00a0soloist, and\u00a0welcomes back San Diego Symphony Associate Conductor Sameer Patel as guest conductor in\u00a0May. LJS&C also brings back\u00a0the dazzling Keir GoGwilt in Schumann\u2019s “Violin Concerto”\u00a0and introduces 2018\u00a0Young Artist Winner violinist Ayrton Coehlo Pisco\u00a0in a perennial favorite, the Mendelssohn “Violin Concerto.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The LJS&C will also present its family-oriented annual Young People\u2019s Concert at 7 p.m. on\u00a0Nov. 1.\u00a0The\u00a0program features musical\u00a0excerpts from the opening concert weekend, including Rossini\u2019s “William Tell\u00a0Overture.”\u00a0<\/span>

Performances take place in Mandeville Auditorium at UC San Diego. Concert times are 7:30 p.m. on Saturday\u00a0and 2:00 p.m. on\u00a0Sunday. RELIANT FUNDING EXPANDS ITS HEADQUARTERS

Reliant Funding, a small business finance provider, recently expanded its headquarters to encompass an\u00a0extra 20,000 square\u00a0feet. The company now occupies the entire second floor at 9540 Towne Centre Dr. in La\u00a0Jolla.<\/p>\n

With the new addition to its headquarters, Reliant Funding announced that it plans to bring on more\u00a0employees. The larger office\u00a0provides an open concept with both cubicle seating and interactive benched\u00a0seating for the company\u2019s departments. La Jolla Presbyterian Church will host a blood drive in partnership with the San Diego Blood Bank from 8:15\u00a0a.m. to 1:30 p.m.\u00a0May 19\u00a0\u00a0in the church\u2019s Life Center Building, Room 3, 7715 Draper Ave. Donors must\u00a0present a photo ID, be age 17 and older,\u00a0weigh at least 114 pounds, and be in good health. WEST HEALTH\u2019S SHELLEY LYFORD APPOINTED TO CALIFORNIA COMMISSION ON AGING\u00a0

Shelley Lyford, the president and CEO of nonprofit, nonpartisan West Health, has been appointed to the\u00a0California Commission\u00a0on Aging by the Senate Rules Committee, with President pro Tempore of the\u00a0California State Senate, Toni Atkins, leading the\u00a0appointment as chair of the committee.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lyford has been the chief executive at West Health for four years and has led Gary and Mary West\u2019s\u00a0philanthropic endeavors to\u00a0lower healthcare costs and improve care for seniors since its inception in 2006.\u00a0She has worked tirelessly to advance the\u00a0organization\u2019s mission through a combination of applied medical\u00a0research, policy, advocacy and outcomes-based philanthropy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lyford led West Health\u2019s development of several innovative models for senior healthcare, including\u00a0launching the Gary and Mary\u00a0West Senior Dental Center for low-income seniors in 2016 and opening the\u00a0Gary and Mary West Senior Emergency Department\u00a0at UC San Diego Health in 2019. Under her guidance,\u00a0the Gary and Mary West Foundation awarded 518 grants totaling more\u00a0than $211 million for healthcare\u00a0research and social services for seniors and their caregivers. Lyford also serves as vice chair of\u00a0the board of\u00a0directors for Civica Rx, a not-for-profit generic pharmaceutical company that will help address drug\u00a0shortages and\u00a0lower the high prices of lifesaving medications.<\/span><\/p>\n
