I met with the Playboy\u2019s Playmate of the Year Dani Mathers on Feb. 27 and asked about her Playboy year, Playboy\u2019s new style and her future plans. Dani Mathers answered:
\n“The year with Playboy has been amazing. My father collected Playboys, so from a very early age I always wanted to be in Playboy. To have the honor to be the Playmate of the Year was something I never even thought imaginable. It boosted my confidence and made me want to work harder.
\nIn the beginning of the year, we do a tour for radio stations, so I did back to back radio station interviews. Over the past five years, I have done radio for random occasions and I didn\u2019t realize it before that I actually really loved it. I\u2019ve actually gotten a radio show on Playboy radio and I\u2019m hosting a show in Los Angeles. That is a really cool opportunity. There were also a couple of photo shoots and handfull of appearances I happily have been part of. And part of that was also meeting everyone in Pacific Magazine. Every door has been opening this year.
\nPart of the reason I love Playboy so much is that Hugh Hefner really has taken it upon himself to go against the mainstream. For a really long time nudity and the female body were taboo. For me to see that the magazine will not have nudes anymore, doesn\u2019t make me feel comfortable. It is a necessary step, because now nudity and pornography are so accessible to the public, so it is no longer a taboo, so they do have to adapt and change with the times. That is also a part of what made it so classy, because it\u2019s not trashy nudity. It\u2019s very girls next door, it\u2019s done in very subtle and classy ways. But I know that there is a chance we can be nude again. I have acted my whole life, and now I am trying to find representation again so that I can get back to commercials and television. That is my passion. There are also jobs in radio and I\u2019m open to new things. I have a medical cannabis project, and I\u2019m actively being part of the movement to legalize marijuana. I have family members who struggle with illnesses and they need it for medical purpose.” (I’m Hanna Laukkanen, a 26-year-old journalist, who moved from Finland to San Diego for an internship in San Diego Community Newspaper Group.
