A large IB emblem now adorns an interior wall of the high school library and the international baccalaureate image embellishes the outside gymnasium wall. MBHS is proud of its rigorous, balanced IB curriculum and the new murals are a testament to the commitment to the school\u2019s international baccalaureate program. \u2022 MBHS is partnering with Recycle San Diego to provide <b>free e-waste recycling<\/b> for the public. Bring electronics on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to recycle for free. For more information: www.recyclesandiego.org\/mission-bay-high\/ <b>Escuela secundaria de la playa del Pac\u00edfico<\/b> <b>\u2022 Twelve principals and vice principals from several regions of China<\/b> will visit Pacific Beach Middle, an international baccalaureate school, on Friday, Nov. 18. The purpose for the visit is to develop an understanding on several topics including characteristics of the American public middle school management system, how teachers in the U.S. are recruited and trained, American guidelines for curriculum design and strategies that American teachers employ to keep students engaged and focused. PBMS was chosen for the visit because of its outstanding international baccalaureate middle years program. Principal Julie Martel will host the guests from China and spend the day exchanging ideas and sharing insight with global middle school perspectives. <b>Crown Point Elementary<\/b> \u2022 Crown Point Junior Music Academy will hold its <b>Scholastic Book Fair<\/b> this week, Nov. 7-11, from 11:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Check out great books and support the school. \u2022 Crown Point <b>welcomes adult volunteers.<\/b> If you have an interest in being part of the school community stop by the office to fill out the volunteer application. <b>Kate Sessions Elementary<\/b> \u2022 Kate Sessions, in <b>partnership with the Reuben H. Fleet Museum and funded by the Department of Defense grant<\/b> &#8220;Operation Student Achievement,&#8221; hosted a <b>family science night<\/b> on Nov. 3. Parents, students and teachers were enthusiastically engaged in making the non-Newtonian fluid called &#8220;Flubber,&#8221; testing the Bernoulli Effect, using magnetism to create the longest paperclip chain, and other activities. This was the first of two family science nights that Sessions will host this year. \u2022 Halloween spirit abounded at Kate Sessions as <b>parents and teachers put on their &#8220;spooktacular&#8221; Halloween Carnival.<\/b> Following a pie-eating contest and costume parade, students enjoyed traditional carnival games, pony rides, a train ride and a bake sale of spooky Halloween treats. Fifth-grade students sponsored their traditional Haunted House, successful scaring hundreds of participants. The carnival was made possible by community support. More than 70 PB Middle and Mission Bay High students donated time, and the schools\u2019 military partners from the San Diego Naval Base came to lend a hand. Many local businesses, including Trader Joe&#8217;s, Mr. Frostie, Pick Up Stix, Christine Elise Photography, Yogurt on the Rocks, Petco, the Steve Adamson Tennis Academy and Westwood Orthodontics were essential to our success. <b>Pacific Beach Elementary<\/b> \u2022 On Monday, Nov. 14 at 7:50 a.m., Pacific Beach Elementary will be <b>awarded The Barona Education Grant of $5,000.<\/b> Edwin &#8220;Thorpe&#8221; Romero, who serves as chairman of the Barona Band of Mission Indians, 76th Dist.
