This year, the Fur Ball will honor The Akaloa Resource Foundation and Phil Pace, owner of Phil\u2019s BBQ in the Midway district, for their generous contributions provided to animals in the community. “Phil Pace has been a generous and dedicated supporter of SDHS and companion animals for many years,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, the nonprofit\u2019s president\/CEO. “Giving back to the community is something Phil knows a lot about, particularly to children and animals. In addition to his support of SDHS, Phil\u2019s newest project is designating five acres of his 20-acre property for horse rescue and equine therapy \u2014 all to help animals in need of a second chance. We\u2019re grateful for all Phil Pace does for this community and proud to honor him at our 29th annual Fur Ball.” The event, one of SDHS’s largest annual fundraising events, will feature a cocktail hour for people and their canine friends, all dressed in their finest attire, a sit-down dinner created by Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grille and live and silent auctions.
