Summer beach patrols to be beefed up<\/b> Notes from the Pacific Beach Town Council (PBTC) meeting on April 20:<\/i> Capt. Al Guaderrama of the San Diego Police Department\u2019s Northern Division said residents in Pacific Beach and Mission Beach will see a more visible police presence along the beach and boardwalk areas in the coming weeks. An added 10-person police team will begin training April 30 and will be patrolling the beach throughout the summer months. After a couple weeks of training to learn the bike and quad maneuvers, the team will be in full force everyday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. “We know that for the residents who live in this area it\u2019s important for them to have a police presence to deal effectively with their quality-of-life issues,” Guaderrama said. “We\u2019ll have a beach team out here seven days a week so you will see some additional resources during the summer-time months.” Several PBTC members voiced concern to Guaderrama over the presence of party buses in the community. Parking and alcohol issues were the main points of concern to Town Councilmembers. Guarderrama ur-ged board members to call (619) 513-2000 to report illegal activities and to obtain an incident number for tracking purposes when they call. Tim Orozco, representative for Assembly Member Tony Atkins, reported that the state budget \u2014 although not yet finished \u2014\u00a0is further along than it was at this point last year and should be signed by Gov. Jerry Brown by the June 15 deadline. A Pacific Beach Woman\u2019s Club representative announced that the club was able to remove more than 1,000 tags during the PBTC annual graffiti cleanup day on April 2.
