It turns out I’m not alone, according to the team behind a new fashion retail app that changes the shopping game for men.
Pacific Beach-based Cayenne Clothing is a men’s clothing and accessory retail app putting a new twist on online fashion with the intention of making dressing well more accessible to the common man.
Cayenne makes it simple- they feature just one curated item per day. “We focus on the busy guy who does not have time to deal with the complexities of shopping online or the lines at the mall,” says co-founder Max Gleicher.
“If a guy is in an elevator on the way up to his office, he can look at the app, and check the app to see if he likes the product featured that specific day,” says CEO and co-founder Michael Sacks. “We offer them a quick opportunity to say yes or no for 24 hours.”
When asked how they came up with Cayenne’s concept, Sacks (who has a tech and fashion background along with co-founder Jimmy Woolley) said that there are a few big subscription box companies, and they wanted to do something different.
“We didn’t want the customers to have to deal with returning any items they didn’t want, and that is how a lot of the subscription box systems work. We make it easy on the customer.”
The online marketplace is the first of its kind where men can go and discover a variety of new brands, with carefully curated products from each brand.
“We have two different types of guys we target with Cayenne. We target the guy who is intrinsically motivated to dress well – the one who doesn’t necessarily prioritize the mall, but who cares about dressing well and enjoys receiving compliments on their outfits,” said Gleicher. “And then we have the guy who doesn’t have any idea of what to wear, how to wear it, or where to get it. He thinks that a great pair of pants will just magically appear in his closet,” Gleicher added.
The entire idea behind the app is to make shopping very “hands-off” and painless for men. The Cayenne team has “gone through everything already, so the guy doesn’t have to do the research. We have scouted the brands, picked which products to highlight on our app, and found the best prices for our customers,” said Gleicher.
In fact, locating brands to feature on Cayenne is the majority of Max’s job. While they will feature brands local to San Diego, they are keeping an open mind because of the wide audience Cayenne will reach. Max and the rest of the team have had great success in scouting brands in the LA Fashion District, as well as fashion trade shows including Magic in Las Vegas.
The app, available this month, is free to download. Customers can order products directly from the app, with just a $2 shipping flat rate. Cayenne Clothing
Where: 2207 Garnet Ave. Info: getcayenne.com

I have a theory that men care a little more about dressing well than they admit.
