\nThe Ocean Beach Historical Society will host a free program featuring a reading of “Between the Lampposts: The Literary Giants of Loma Portal,” a book about the history behind local street naming. \nSilver Gate Elementary School will host its annual Harvest Festival, a fun and spooky experience for students, teachers, parents and the community as a whole. \nThe Kiwanis Club of Ocean Beach will host its ninth annual OB Howl-O-Ween Canine Festival and Costume Contest, with gobs of things to do and plenty of entertainment for four-legged friends and their owners alike. The street fair features music, food, a costume contest and prizes, along with a parade of pooches. The fun takes place at Dusty Rhodes Park at Sunset Cliffs and Nimitz boulevards from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, and the cost is $7 for a single dog, $10 for groups of dogs and $10 for floats to enter into the costume contest and parade.
