In the mid-1990s, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez made the cult classic “From Dusk Till Dawn.” It\u2019s tale of two homicidal brothers who meet their match in an unforgettable Mexican saloon. Nearly 20 years later, the twisted story will be brought to life at a dinner theater production in Ocean Beach as a benefit event for breast cancer awareness and victims. On Nov. 2 and 3, an all-volunteer cast and crew will transform the Point Loma Masonic Lodge into a biker and trucker bar that was the scene of the second half of the film, when sexy dancers and menacing bartenders morphed into blood-starved vampires. Among the two-dozen-plus local volunteers are actors, dancers, musicians, makeup artists and crewmembers, all working to benefit Breast Cancer Angels, a group that supports women and their families undergoing cancer treatment. “The money goes directly to help people get by in their daily life,” said Sooty Hetrick, producer and director of the show. “From Dusk Till Dawn” is a gritty tale that starts with a jailbreak and ends up in a south-of-the-border dive bar with an impressive selection of seductive dancers. As the two fugitives share shots of tequila with a family they\u2019ve taken as hostages, the scene turns surreal as the dancers reveal their inner-vampire and a bloody war begins between the dead and the undead.
\nThere will be three performances: one on Saturday, Nov. 2, and two on Sunday, Nov. 3. A three-course carnitas dinner will be served, with a vegan option available. Beer and cocktails will be served. All seats are reserved and those in the front will be in the thick of the action. Dressing as a biker or trucker is encouraged for people sitting in the front tables, with the outer tables labeled the “safety zone.”
\nLimited tickets are available by visiting the SheTrick Entertainment website. The Nov. 2 show will begin at 7 p.m. and showtimes on Nov. 3 are 3 and 7 p.m. Single tickets, including dinner, begin at $75. Reservations may also be made for entire tables.
