Enjoy Danzarts performances and live music while exploring the galleries, museums, artist studios, shops and dining at historic Liberty Station.\u00a0<br \/>\nAugust\u2019s First Friday showcases a free outdoor film screening of &#8220;At Eternity\u2019s Gate&#8221; under the stars thanks to event sponsor San Diego Watercolor Society. The film screening will be on the North Promenade starting at 8 p.m.<br \/>\nAfter 10 years, the monthly Friday night happening has grown into one of San Diego\u2019s biggest innovative arts events. Guests can meet working artists and enjoy dance, theatre and music performances, as well as discover intriguing public art installations.<br \/>\nAndrew Waltz, NTC Foundation associate director of marketing and communications, noted the Arts District continues to grow and evolve.<br \/>\n&#8220;When we started in 2009, the Arts District had seven completed buildings,&#8221; Waltz said. &#8220;Ten years later, we\u2019ve grown to 45 renovated buildings filled with more than 145 organizations and businesses including art galleries, artist studios, museums, caf\u00e9s, a food market and more.&#8221;<br \/>\nWaltz added the event\u2019s name change to First Friday Arts District, &#8220;reflects our new approach to this signature event and puts the focus on the arts, the community and the visitor experience. Now, the First Friday Arts District\u00a0name says when it is and where it is.&#8221;<br \/>\nIt\u2019s hoped First Friday Arts District has something for everyone.<br \/>\n&#8220;We wanted a different narrative to bring in a different audience, folks coming to enjoy the music as well as the art,&#8221; Waltz said. &#8220;We hope to keep people on their feet with a whole evening of danceable music.
