{"id":270038,"date":"2015-08-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-08-04T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/new-soda-swine-debuts-in-liberty-station\/"},"modified":"2015-08-04T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-08-04T07:00:00","slug":"new-soda-swine-debuts-in-liberty-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/new-soda-swine-debuts-in-liberty-station\/","title":{"rendered":"New Soda &#038; Swine debuts in Liberty Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new Soda &#038; Swine restaurant recently opened its second location in San Diego at Liberty Station in Point Loma.<br \/>\nBorn from the vision of local designer Paul Basile, the 5,000-square-foot building housing the new eatery underwent a complete transformation with every element designed and fabricated by his award-winning design firm BASILE Studio.<br \/>\nTaking inspiration from the original Normal Heights outpost, which won the\u00a02014 San Diego Architectural Foundation Orchid Award for &#8220;Interior Design,&#8221;\u00a0the overall concept exudes approachable familiarity with a raw, yet refined aesthetic.\u00a0Standout features include a\u00a020-foot Foosball table\u00a0that doubles as cocktail seating,\u00a0hand welded\u00a0&#8216;double-S&#8217; steel barstools,\u00a029-foot brass quilted bar inspired by an airplane wing\u00a0(a nod to the overhead flight path), a\u00a0new oversized custom terrace\u00a0and\u00a0massive 19 foot by 12 foot glass paned, flip door. \u00a0<br \/>\nSome of the design details:<br \/>\n&#8211; Tucked under the table are\u00a020 custom cast-iron, cherry red stools\u00a0with leather tops;<br \/>\n&#8211; Near the entrance is an\u00a0in-house pie shop\u00a0inspired by the quaint mom and pops found on the streets of New York City.\u00a0Counter-balanced viewing windows flip up\u00a0so restaurant-goers can watch workers baking fresh-made pies daily in the wood stone oven;<br \/>\n&#8211; Basile is also known for their brilliant and functional bar, and restaurant layouts\u2014Soda &#038; Swine seats 75 indoors, and 40 outdoors\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8211; The\u00a029-foot\u00a0quilted brass cocktail\u00a0bar with sweeping undercurve was originally\u00a0inspired by an airplane wing \u2013 a unique nod to Liberty Station\u2019s proximity to the overhead airport flight path;<br \/>\n&#8211; 19\u00a0custom \u2018double-S\u2019 steel barstools\u00a0with etched wood tops were all built at Basile. Brass \u2018S\u2019 purse hooks hang off the back of the stools for clever accommodation;<br \/>\n&#8211; Navy and white bohemian tiles\u00a0line the back bar as well as the interior of the pie shop and exterior cocktail bar;<br \/>\n&#8211; Vintage wood ship lath\u00a0reclaimed from the demolition of another project\u00a0lines the walls of the restaurant with sprawling greenery;<br \/>\n&#8211; Custom\u00a0Basile Built cedar banquettes, cedar tables with brass inlay and cherry red custom cast stools\u00a0line the dining area;<br \/>\n&#8211;\u00a0Opening up the airy interior to the oversized terrace is a\u00a019 foot by 12 foot\u00a0steel and glass paneled flip door\u00a0powered by a remote actuator. A smaller door also allows access \u2013 a door within a door;<br \/>\n&#8211; The outside terrace features a standalone cocktail bar, custom wood and steel awning, as well as cozy banquettes with\u00a0brass fire features;<br \/>\n&#8211; Another element that translates from the original location is a\u00a0quilted steel, fireplace facade; and<br \/>\n&#8211; A\u00a020-foot foosball table\u00a0was built entirely by the talented artisans at BASILE Studio.\u00a0Complete with 40 hand-stitched leather handles, a glass table top allows patrons to set a drink down or grab the foosball in between sets.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new Soda &#038; Swine restaurant recently opened its second location in San Diego at Liberty Station in Point Loma.
