This popular recycling program offers16 drop-off locations, available to city residents only, as well as curbside pickup service for customers with curbside yard waste collection containers.<br \/>\n&#8220;We\u2019re encouraging all local residents to give Christmas trees a second life by recycling them,&#8221; said\u00a0Mario\u00a0X.\u00a0Sierra,\u00a0director\u00a0of\u00a0the City\u2019s\u00a0Environmental\u00a0Services Department.<br \/>\nSan\u00a0Diego residents\u00a0can\u00a0recycle\u00a0their\u00a0Christmas trees seven\u00a0days\u00a0a\u00a0week (except select holidays) for\u00a0free at\u00a0the\u00a0Miramar Greenery\u00a0located\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0Miramar\u00a0Landfill, 5180 Convoy St.\u00a0City residents can\u00a0also\u00a0drop\u00a0off\u00a0clean\u00a0trees\u00a0at\u00a0no\u00a0cost\u00a0during\u00a0daylight\u00a0hours\u00a0at\u00a0any\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0City\u2019s\u00a016\u00a0drop-off\u00a0locations listed\u00a0below.<br \/>\nOnly\u00a0clean\u00a0trees\u00a0are\u00a0accepted\u00a0at\u00a0City\u00a0recycling\u00a0locations.\u00a0Before\u00a0depositing\u00a0trees,\u00a0residents\u00a0must\u00a0remove\u00a0all tree\u00a0stands,\u00a0lights,\u00a0ornaments,\u00a0tinsel,\u00a0and\u00a0non-recyclable\u00a0materials.\u00a0Please\u00a0donot\u00a0illegally\u00a0dump\u00a0any\u00a0other\u00a0items\u00a0at the\u00a0drop-off\u00a0locations.<br \/>\nIn\u00a0addition\u00a0to\u00a0clean\u00a0trees,\u00a0flocked\u00a0(fake\u00a0snow-covered) trees\u00a0are\u00a0also\u00a0accepted.\u00a0All trees\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0recycled\u00a0into\u00a0high\u00a0quality\u00a0mulch\u00a0and\u00a0compost.\u00a0City\u00a0residents\u00a0can\u00a0self-load\u00a0mulch\u00a0and\u00a0up\u00a0totwo\u00a0cubic\u00a0yards\u00a0of\u00a0compost\u00a0for\u00a0free\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0Miramar Greenery\u00a0throughout\u00a0the\u00a0year.<br \/>\nHours of operation for the Miramar Greenery are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Sunday and most holidays. The landfill is closed on New Year&#8217;s Day.<br \/>\nCity curbside\u00a0yard\u00a0waste\u00a0recycling\u00a0customers can\u00a0also\u00a0recycle\u00a0trees\u00a0by\u00a0placing\u00a0them\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0curb\u00a0with\u00a0the\u00a0regular\u00a0yard\u00a0waste\u00a0recycling.\u00a0Customers\u00a0with\u00a0automated\u00a0greenery\u00a0containers must\u00a0cut\u00a0up\u00a0their clean\u00a0trees\u00a0into\u00a0pieces of\u00a0about\u00a03-feet\u00a0and place them\u00a0inside\u00a0the\u00a0container. Such\u00a0customers\u00a0who\u00a0are\u00a0unable\u00a0to\u00a0cut\u00a0their trees\u00a0for\u00a0manual collection\u00a0or\u00a0who\u00a0cannot\u00a0fit\u00a0the tree\u00a0into\u00a0an\u00a0automated\u00a0container\u00a0should\u00a0recycle\u00a0their tree\u00a0at\u00a0any\u00a0of\u00a0the City\u2019s\u00a0drop-off\u00a0locations. All\u00a0non-recyclable\u00a0materials must be removed\u00a0before\u00a0placing\u00a0trees inside\u00a0an\u00a0automated\u00a0binor\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0curb\u00a0next\u00a0to\u00a0yard\u00a0waste\u00a0collection\u00a0containers.<br \/>\nThe following\u00a0is a\u00a0complete\u00a0list\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a0City\u2019s\u00a016\u00a0drop-off\u00a0locations:<br \/>\nCarmel Valley &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;. However,\u00a0commercial\u00a0trees can\u00a0be\u00a0dropped\u00a0off\u00a0from now\u00a0until\u00a0Jan.\u00a023\u00a0at\u00a0theMiramar Greenery\u00a0for\u00a0a\u00a0nominal\u00a0fee.<br \/>\nThe City is teaming up with the local nonprofit\u00a0I Love a Clean San Diego\u00a0to help county residents find a drop-off site for their Christmas trees after the holidays are over.
