{"id":269339,"date":"2017-01-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-01-18T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/high-tea-fundraiser-set-before-point-loma-dance-theater-performance\/"},"modified":"2017-01-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-01-18T08:00:00","slug":"high-tea-fundraiser-set-before-point-loma-dance-theater-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/high-tea-fundraiser-set-before-point-loma-dance-theater-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"High tea fundraiser set before Point Loma dance theater performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The founders of the nonprofit Jean Isaacs San Diego Dance Theater in Liberty Station will be honored at a fundraiser high tea reception Jan. 22 before that Sunday&#8217;s performance of &#8220;Janus,&#8221; the winter repertory concert.<br \/>\nBoth will take place at the Saville Theater at City College, 1313 Park Blvd. in downtown San Diego.<br \/>\nSDDT founders George Willis, Lolita Donoso-Carter, and Johanna Weikel will be honored. At 1 p.m. the guests will have high tea on the Saville Theater stage before the &#8220;Janus&#8221; performance.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s the 45th anniversary celebration of SDDT, which has made its home in Point Loma for years.<br \/>\nSDDT volunteer Leslie Carter said it&#8217;s all for a good cause.<br \/>\n&#8220;The fundraiser is to help cover the cost of a grant they lost covering the children&#8217;s and seniors\u2019 programs,&#8221; Carter said, noting SDDT hosts numerous dance classes for youth and older adults, including an aging creative program that accounts for her involvement.<br \/>\n&#8220;There are six or seven dance classes that are really excellent for people more than 55 years old,&#8221; Carter said adding, &#8220;I came to take the senior dance classes \u2013 and they put me to work helping with the publicity.&#8221;<br \/>\nEvent proceeds will benefit education and outreach for children&#8217;s and seniors&#8217; programs.<br \/>\n&#8220;Janus and Other Dances of Beginnings, Transitions, and Endings&#8221; will be the 19th edition of Jean Isaacs\u2019 San Diego Dance Company\u2019s January repertory concert.<br \/>\nThe concert will be presented over three days: Jan. 20, 22 and 23 at the Saville Theater. Hours are Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.<br \/>\nThe new work &#8220;Janus&#8221; calls to mind the Roman god of January whose legendary perspective is equally forward and backward. The premier production features dancers Minaqua McPherson and Desiree Cuizon-Ferjeran bound together back-to-back.
