On Saturday, Dec. 14 the M.L. Legacy Center celebrates its grand opening. The unique event center, located at 7220 El Cajon Blvd., will cut the ribbon with the Chamber of Commerce and also entertain guests with live music. The event also features a special yoga presentation by Yoga Nest, a mini fashion show sponsored by Twynot Beauty Lounge, and refreshments from Caf\u00e9 X \u2014 all tenants who operate businesses in the event center building.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Although the M.L. Legacy Center is a new business, the concept for the building has been a work in progress since October 2018 when the owners took over the space that previously housed a gym.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The idea was to create an avenue where people can come in and they can rent a hall that was like a one-stop shop \u2014 a place where they can have coffee, they can do fitness and also do something with beauty,” said Sema Williams, who owns and operates the M.L. Legacy Center with her husband Reginald.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event center is about 1,200 square feet and is available for the birthday parties, banquets, receptions and business conferences. Williams said the center works with a variety of vendors and caterers that can transform the space into any kind of function that customers might need.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Caf\u00e9 X coffee shop operates in the event space, and Twynot Beauty Bar \u2014 a three-seat salon \u2014\u00a0and Yoga Nest are located in two adjoining rooms withing the building.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The idea was that the event venue will not be used every day, so why not just bring in some people who can utilize it every day without having to pay the storefront price,” Williams said. “As a business owner already, we realized that there are not a lot of commercial properties that are affordable rates for people to set up businesses. There are so many people that have businesses but can\u2019t really find a location because its either way too much or they pretty much can\u2019t afford it.”<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to providing affordable spaces for Twynot, Yoga Nest and Caf\u00e9 X, M.L. Legacy Center also opens its doors to local cottage industry startups during its Business Market Saturdays events.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We do it the third Saturday of every month, allow different businesses to come in and be able to showcase their items \u2014 kind of like a farmers market but not a farmers market, just a place for businesses to come in.”<\/span><\/p>\n
