{"id":266095,"date":"2017-08-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-09T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/two-in-custody-for-assaults-on-women-in-pacific-beach\/"},"modified":"2017-08-09T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-08-09T07:00:00","slug":"two-in-custody-for-assaults-on-women-in-pacific-beach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/two-in-custody-for-assaults-on-women-in-pacific-beach\/","title":{"rendered":"Dos detenidos por agresiones a mujeres en Pacific Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two suspects are in custody, booked into jail on suspicion of multiple counts of robbery and other alleged crimes in connection with a series of assaults on women in Pacific Beach and environs this summer.<br \/>\n&#8220;Kyle Holland, 19, was arrested on July 24 and booked into jail on suspicion of nine different counts including robbery, second-degree robbery, making a criminal threat, and assault,&#8221; said\u00a0Steve Walker, communications director, special assistant, for San Diego County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<br \/>\n&#8220;He posted $150,000 bail and has been given a return date of Aug. 29 at 8:15 a.m. in Superior Court for his arraignment, where any charges filed by the DA\u2019s Office will be announced,&#8221; said Walker.<br \/>\nThe other suspect, Efraim Byers, 20, was also arrested on July 24.\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;He was booked into jail on 12 various charges including robbery, second-degree robbery, making criminal threats and assault,&#8221; said Walker adding Byers\u00a0&#8220;Has not posted bail and has also been given a court date of Aug. 29 at 8:15 a.m. for arraignment in Superior Court downtown.&#8221;<br \/>\nNo other information was immediately forthcoming until both suspects have been arraigned, said Walker adding, &#8220;Our office will be reviewing the cases for potential criminal charges.&#8221;<br \/>\nSan Diego Police Department media services officer Joshua Hodge said at least one of the alleged crimes involved a robbery at knifepoint on Pacific Beach&#8217;s boardwalk.<br \/>\nAnother incident occurred in Mission Beach about 2 a.m. one night recently when a man allegedly wielding a knife demanded that a woman, her mom and her sister hand over their purses.<br \/>\nPolice said the trio were told &#8220;to get to their knees while an assailant held a knife on them.&#8221;\u00a0Forced to the pavement at knifepoint, a man stole the women&#8217;s purses. cash, credit cards, phones and keys. The robber took off, maxing out the family\u2019s credit cards within minutes. Police added the women &#8220;were scheduled to leave town the next day with no hope of getting their belongings back.&#8221;<br \/>\nHodge offered some advice for anyone, especially women, who are out late at night on weekends along the beachfront. He said people ought not to be alone, while\u00a0stressing the importance of people remaining alert when they&#8217;re out and about when they see a potential crime in the making.<br \/>\n&#8220;Just try to be a good witness,&#8221; counseled Hodge who advised, should a person be attacked that &#8220;property is property and can be replaced. In two weeks&#8217; time, the suspect attacked both women on the corner of Cass Street and Pacific Drive, blocks away from the Grand-Garnet party district in PB.<br \/>\n&#8220;Fortunately, both of the victims managed to fight back and scream at the top of their lungs,&#8221; police said. &#8220;As a result neither of them was sexually assaulted, but both were badly beaten by the attacker before he got away.&#8221;<br \/>\nAdditionally, police have been\u00a0searching for a Lyft driver accused of sexually assaulting a customer, a woman in her 20s, in Pacific Beach. The woman called 911 around 5 a.m. and said her Lyft driver raped her after picking her up from Pacific Beach,&#8221; police said.<br \/>\nA detailed description of the driver has not yet been released.
