You will pass a taco shop on nearly every corner. The burritos in San Diego were one of the deciding factors for my move to PB because they are simply that good. Once we moved here, my husband and I made it our mission to taste every burrito in Pacific Beach. It’s very hard to choose one favorite Mexican joint here. I mean, can you name your single most-favorite movie? Of course not. Your response is: “Are we talking comedy? Drama? Sci-fi? Old or new?” You need parameters! Burritos are the same way. You can’t choose just one. However, I have managed to narrow it down a bit. I’m sure some arguments will ensue, but please know these decisions were not made lightly. • Best veggie burrito: Taco Surf Taco Surf’s Mission Boulevard location, with surf boards on the ceiling and surf videos playing, make it the perfect stop after a day at the beach. The best thing about Taco Surf is the ability to make your own burrito. You can choose four toppings from a long list that includes hash browns, egg, olives, sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions and peppers, jalapeños and many more of the usual suspects. The ability to choose exactly what you want in your veggie burrito makes it my hands-down favorite. — 4657 Mission Blvd. (858) 272-3877

• Best all-around burrito: Bahia Don Bravos It was a sad day for us all when Don Bravos closed its Pacific Beach location. Luckily, we can still find them in nearby Bird Rock. Don Bravos is a family restaurant offering delicious burritos – carne asada, machaca, chorizo, pork adobada, carnitas, Californian and many more. For an additional $1.99, you can make it a “wet burrito” with enchilada sauce and cheese on top. If you’re eating healthier, the whole-wheat tortilla is quite tasty. — 5504 La Jolla Blvd.; (858) 454-8940; www.bahiadonbravo.net

• Best hot sauce: Cotija’s Cotija’s deserves an honorable mention for its hot sauce. The flavor and kick of its hot sauce is beyond compare, and I always grab a few extras when I’m there (a few, meaning 10). They’re open late and the central Garnet Avenue position makes it a great late-night spot after you’ve hit the bars. A word of warning: you may regret that 1 a.m. burrito in the morning. I’ve been there. This is just a sampling of some of the delicious Mexican spots in Pacific Beach. We are so lucky to have so many to choose from and to take friends to when they visit. The only trouble is picking which one to take them to first. — 1092 Garnet Ave., (858) 273-1241

I’m 30 and Love PB!
