Sandy Hanshaw, owner of\u00a0The Wine Pub\u00a0and\u00a0The Coffee Hub, announces the return of her iconic neighborhood bike ride and celebration \u2013\u00a0Bike for Boobs. Hanshaw brought\u00a0Bike for Boobs\u00a0to life in San Diego in 2013 as she underwent treatment for stage-three breast cancer.<br \/>\nOn Sunday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m., dozens of pink-adorned supporters will grab bikes and join the\u00a0San Diego County Bike Coalition\u00a0for a casual ride around Shelter Island. Following the ride, guests will reunite at The Pub\u2019s enchanting outdoor patio for live music, gourmet food, auction items and, of course, wine.\u00a0 Cuba After Castro Night at Point Loma Library<br \/>\nThe Hervey Point Loma Library hosts a &#8220;Cuba After Castro Night,&#8221; on 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 in the community room, 3701 Voltaire St. UC San Diego professor Dr. Richard Feinberg will discuss his recent book, &#8220;Open for Business: The New Cuban Economy.&#8221; Feinberg is a professor at the UC School of Global Policy and Strategy. Over the past six years, he has published numerous monographs on Cuba\u2019s economic outlook. As an adjunct to the evening\u2019s Cuban theme, guitarist Israel Maldonado will play beginning at 6:30 p.m. The evening includes book signings and Cuban desserts. Children 13 and under can win prizes like Most Fish, Biggest Fish \u2013 even Ugliest or Most Unusual Fish. Families are encouraged to fish together, but the child must land the fish himself or herself to be eligible for a prize.<br \/>\nNo experience is needed, in fact, many participants have never fished before. Free bait is provided, courtesy of the OB Pier Bait Shop. You must bring\u00a0 your own fishing gear; if you don&#8217;t have any you can rent it from the Bait Shop. Hurricane dogs are available for adoption Of the dogs and puppies flown in from a Louisiana shelter, more than 30 are available for adoption at San Diego Humane Society\u2019s San Diego Campus, 5500 Gaines St.<br \/>\nA Wings of Rescue flight transferred these pets to San Diego Humane Society, Rancho Coastal Humane Society and Labradors and Friends from Acadiana Animal Aid to create space for pets who were being evacuated from Texas and Louisiana when Hurricane Harvey made landfall last week. These pets are not direct victims of Hurricane Harvey. They are highly adoptable dogs who were in animal shelters in the Lafayette area. They do not have owners who will be searching for them. OB photo contest The Ocean Beach Town Council has started a &#8220;Share Your OB&#8221; photo contest. To enter just tag your best photos of OB with #shareyourOB and post on Instagram or Facebook. Winner receives bragging rights and is entered in a monthly drawing for some cool swag. Each Saturday, a new winner will be announced.
