The team is defending its CIF Div. I championship from last season when they went to the state Div. II semifinals.<br \/>\nHead coach Elliott Savitz hopes to take this year&#8217;s team deep into the playoffs. They are currently ranked 12th of 20 Div. I teams. Girls water polo<br \/>\nThe Pointer girls are making fast work of opponents with an 11-2 record overall and perfect 7-0 mark in Central League. They are currently on a six-game winning streak. \u00a0Ken Toma&#8217;s squad has only\u00a0given up 66 goals to date, (5.1 per game), far less than any other team in their league.<br \/>\nThe girls are the top-ranked of 17 schools in Div. II after winning the Div. III title\u00a0last year. Girls soccer<br \/>\nGirls Soccer currently sits at 7-11-4 (1-3-2 in Western League). They recently held league foe Scripps Ranch to a scoreless tie but have been defeated by frontrunners Our Lady of Peace and Cathedral Catholic.<br \/>\nThe girls are ranked 17th among 20 Div. I teams. Boys basketball<br \/>\nThe\u00a0hoopsters are currently sporting a 16-7 record and sit in second place in the Eastern League with a 5-2 mark. They defeated first place Scripps Ranch on the road earlier by a 45-41 score and are looking forward to their rematch next Tuesday, Feb. 5. Tipoff time is 5:15 p.m.<br \/>\nThe boys are ranked fourth among 22 Div. II teams. Girls basketball<br \/>\nThe Pointers have\u00a0compiled a 15-7 record, \u00a03-5 in Eastern League. They\u00a0have three league games remaining including San Diego (away, 6 p.m. Feb. 1),\u00a0University City (away, 5:15 p.m. Feb. 5) and Clairemont (home, 6 p.m. Feb. 8).<br \/>\nThe team is ranked sixth of 20 Div. III teams as playoffs begin next month. Boys,\u00a0girls wrestling<br \/>\nThe separate teams concluded their regular season yesterday with a conference meet at Cathedral Catholic. Other conference members are St. Augustine, Madison, La Jolla and San Diego.<br \/>\nNext up are the City\u00a0Championships (Feb. 2), the CIF Div. II Championship Meet (Feb. 9), the San Diego Masters meet (Feb. 15) and the California State Championships (Feb. 22).<br \/>\nCIF divisions in wrestling are set up by school enrollment and PLHS, with 1,930 students, is the smallest school in Div. II.
