The event will\u00a0cover 16 blocks in\u00a0the Little Italy neighborhood, where\u00a0<\/span><span>120,000 locals and visitors<\/span><span>\u00a0are expected\u00a0to come and view amazing\u00a0artwork, enjoy music and\u00a0dance performances, and participate in interactive art experiences.<br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>One\u00a0of the eight La Jolla artists involved in this event is Krista Schumacher, who creates her artwork at Ligne Roset\u00a0in La Jolla.\u00a0She was recently named &#8220;Top 21 Artists under the Age of 31&#8221; by\u00a0Southwest Art Magazine. The medium she uses\u00a0for her artwork is oil,\u00a0and her works &#8220;are a reflection of a creative-driven spirit which\u00a0seeks to experiment and explore the\u00a0relationship of color, form, and\u00a0texture,&#8221; according to her website, Krista Schumacher Art.<br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>She\u00a0found inspiration from her mom\u2019s work as an artist and grew to\u00a0love oil painting from the time she was 16.\u00a0She\u2019s evolved her style of artwork from the time she was a teen, as\u00a0she now strictly uses a pallet knife for her oil\u00a0paintings.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>&#8220;At\u00a0first, I was very much interested in realism, and following the\u00a0proper method of oil painting,&#8221; said Schumacher. &#8220;As I became more confident in my\u00a0painting, I started branching out and breaking the\u00a0rules. The pallet\u00a0knife allows me to be more loose with the paint, and it\u2019s more\u00a0spontaneous.&#8221;<br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>Where\u00a0does she gain a lot of inspiration for her current artwork? The city\u00a0of San Diego.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>&#8220;The landscapes that are just so\u00a0unique to the West\u00a0Coast are very inspirational,&#8221; said Schumacher. &#8220;I\u2019ve\u00a0definitely been inspired by the coastline, and even\u00a0the desert.&#8221;<br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>Art\u00a0has various ways to express its meaning to those who view it, and a\u00a0lot of it is based on perspective. In this busy world we\u00a0live in,\u00a0sometimes we don\u2019t have the time to take a step back and clearly\u00a0see the beauty that the world entails. That\u2019s something\u00a0<\/span>Schumacher hopes to change.<\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>&#8220;The main thing\u00a0with my work\u00a0is that I just want to show people the beauty that surrounds us,&#8221;\u00a0said Schumacher. &#8220;I think artwork in a lot of\u00a0ways kind of creates\u00a0this moment of mindfulness, where you actually stop and pause and you\u00a0really have this emotional\u00a0connection with the art.&#8221;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>This\u00a0will be\u00a0<\/span>Schumacher&#8217;s second time at the Mission Federal Artwalk event, as she\u00a0was one of the artists\u00a0showcased last year. This year,\u00a0she plans on opening up more of her artwork to the\u00a0people in\u00a0attendance. &#8220;This year, as my style continues to evolve,\u00a0I\u2019ve really been experimenting with very impressionistic\u00a0landscapes.\u00a0So compared to last year, where I\u00a0only showed abstract work, this year I\u2019m also going to be\u00a0incorporating\u00a0some of these impressionistic landscapes.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><span>For\u00a0more information on the Mission Federal Artwalk event, visit\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/artwalksandiego.org\/\">artwalksandiego.org<\/a>.
