I do my own marketing, my own hiring and my own production; I’m in charge of it all.”<br \/>Sandoval’s enterprise offers college students a nice chunk of change for their efforts in addition to getting free instruction on how to paint and prep a house from some of the best in the business.<br \/>“Painters make $8 to $9 per hour plus they get a fifty-cent per hour bonus if they stay on for the entire summer,” said Sandoval.<br \/>Part of the Tuition Painters program includes free training by the experts from the well-known Serwin-Williams brand. Before the first brush is dipped into a can of paint, the experts come in and personally instruct the novice painters on the proper procedures on how to prep and paint a house.<br \/>“Yesterday the Sherwin-Williams people came in and explained to us all the requirements that must be followed before we start any painting,” Sandoval said.<br \/>Teams are taught how to scrape, sand, caulk, as well as how to properly apply the paint. The painters are also showed how to use modern painting equipment and techniques.<br \/>“It’s a very comprehensive course,” Sandoval said.<br \/>Sandoval recruited a handful of friends for his new venture, but said he will be adding new painters for the summer.<br \/>“Right now I have three painters from my school who are also friends of mine and another two that go to Mesa College and my brother who is a graduating high school senior and will be going to Point Loma next year,” Sandoval said.<br \/>The PLNU junior has also been marketing in the Claremont area by going door-to-door asking homeowners if they would like a free estimate for any painting needs they might have.<br \/>Sandoval’s work paid off with his first two jobs as he gears up for a busy summer.
