Local fans will have a chance to help celebrate rhythm guitarist John Lennon\u2019s birthday with a special concert from the Benedetti Trio at Dizzy\u2019s on Oct. 15. Featuring guitarist Fred Benedetti and his daughters, Regina and Julia, the concert will take in music from throughout Lennon\u2019s career, for a well rounded listen through his musical life. Benedetti has recorded numerous albums of Beatles music, but it\u2019s live where the magic really is and audiences can thrill to those fleet fingers at work. The 710 Beach Club hosts a free cover band double bill, featuring Dirty Taxi and Copy Cat Killers. Copy Cat Killers will open up with a set of hard rock from the likes of Ac\/DC and Led Zeppelin, before handing things over to Dirty Taxi for more modern tunes from artists such as Weezer and Red Hot Chili Peppers. While surprises will be few, both bands turn out worthy versions of classic tunes, just what you need to keep the dance floor full. Barksdale is a solid guitarist, with a slew of classics in his repertoire, such as “Hey Joe,” well worth hearing, but even nicer, he will be donating proceeds from these shows to the Fender Music Foundation, a non-profit organization that grants musical instruments and equipment to ongoing music education programs.
