PB artist wins honorable mention in art show<\/b> Pacific Beach resident G. Pasha Turley has won an honorable mention award in the 9th annual Digital Art and Photography Show at St. Mark\u2019s United Methodist Church. Turley\u2019s winning entry was a digital canvas print entitled “Quiet Dreams.” The show\u2019s theme is “Creation Continues.” The show runs through Nov. 11 and has 33 works on view that were created by 16 artists. The juror was award-winning graphic artist Randall Cornish. St. Mark\u2019s United Methodist Church is located at 3502 Clairemont Drive. The show is open for viewing by the general public from 10 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the following Saturdays: Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and Nov. 10. Several local girls to be honored with \u2018Spirit of Leadership\u2019 awards<\/b> Seven young ladies from Pacific Beach Middle School, one from Mission Bay High and another from High Tech High in Point Loma will be honored with distinction on Nov. 3 during the annual Jenna Druck Foundation “Spirit of Leadership” awards gala and leadership conference. Each year, hundreds of extraordinary San Diego County middle school and high school-age girls are nominated by the community to receive the “Spirit of Leadership” award. Nominations came to a close on Oct. 12. Among the awards to be handed out are those in the areas of community leadership, student leadership, academic leadership, creative leadership, athletic leadership, family leadership, personal integrity and the “undiscovered leader.” Award recipients include: \u2022 Jasmine Smith, Mission Bay High \u2022 Jessica Coyne, High Tech High \u2022 Myka Green, Pacific Beach Middle School \u2022 Alex Briski, PB Middle international baccalaureate program \u2022 Serena Castro, PB Middle international baccalaureate program \u2022 Katrina Eisenhardt, PB Middle international baccalaureate program \u2022 Ciara Gray, PB Middle international baccalaureate program \u2022 Maddie Tandy, PB Middle international baccalaureate program \u2022 Martina Pulido, PB Middle international baccalaureate program \u2022 Jessica Coyne, PB Middle international baccalaureate program The Jenna Druck Center was founded by Dr. Ken Druck in honor of the life of his daughter, Jenna, who passed away when she was just 21.
