A fast-paced program will include short testimonials to the honorees from&nbsp;those in the San Diego business and philanthropic community. As&nbsp;part of the program, miscellaneous art, sports, travel&nbsp;and&nbsp;collectors&nbsp;items will be auctioned.<\/p>\n<p>The emcee for the event is KUSI-TV News Anchor Lauren&nbsp;Phinney.<\/p>\n<p>Join us for this special night as we honor Shelley Zimmerman and&nbsp;Kristin Gaspar for their professional success and the work that they&nbsp;have done to make our community a better place and improve the&nbsp;lives of our friends, neighbors, and their families across San Diego&nbsp;County.<\/p>\n<p>Cocktails are at 6 p.m. and the dinner and program&nbsp;starts&nbsp;at 7 p.m. Visit&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/ucpsd.org\/\">ucpsd.org<\/a>&nbsp;para m\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<div><strong>POINT LOMA ROTARY TO HOST BEACH CLEAN UP<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>Come and join the&nbsp;Pt Loma Rotary, the students, teachers, and parents&nbsp;of&nbsp;Warren-Walker&nbsp;School, Cub Scout Troup 540, local merchants&nbsp;and the concerned citizens of&nbsp;Ocean Beach&nbsp;in&nbsp;&ldquo;Clean the Beach&nbsp;Day.&#8221;<br \/>Help protect our ocean, waves&nbsp;and&nbsp;beaches by&nbsp;participating in this&nbsp;public cleanup hosted by&nbsp;Surfrider Foundation.&nbsp;Reusable bags, buckets, gloves&nbsp;and&nbsp;grabber will be available for those that do not have their&nbsp;own supplies.&nbsp;Wear comfortable clothes, closed toe shoes, hat&nbsp;and&nbsp;sunscreen. Don&#8217;t&nbsp;forget your&nbsp;reusable cup or bottle to stay hydrated (single-bottles are&nbsp;highly discouraged).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Event&nbsp;is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Veterans Park at the corner of Abbott and Newport.&nbsp;Any&nbsp;question call&nbsp;Robert Cenko (619) 318-9762.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AMERICAN LIVER FOUNDATION&#8217;S&nbsp;21ST&nbsp;ANNUAL LIVER LIFE WALK&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>Join the American Liver Foundation for its 21st&nbsp;annual Liver Life Walk on Saturday, May 11 at 8:30 a.m.&nbsp;at NTC Park in Liberty Station,&nbsp;2455 Cushing Road.&nbsp;There will be fun for everyone&nbsp;including the pre-party with activities for children and adults, entertainment, awards&nbsp;and refreshments.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 500 walkers will participate in San Diego to bring awareness to liver disease&nbsp;and provide financial support&nbsp;for ALF&#8217;s educational programs and patient services&nbsp;offered to the millions of Americans battling one of the 100&nbsp;known liver diseases.&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Registration can be done ahead of time online or onsite the morning of the event.&nbsp;Registration is $20 per adult and&nbsp;free for children 17 and under. Check-in is from&nbsp;8:30 to 9:45 a.m.&nbsp;and the walk starts at 10 a.m. While there is no&nbsp;required&nbsp;fundraising minimum, participants are encouraged to raise at least $100 in support of&nbsp;the ALF&#8217;s mission.&nbsp;Anyone can form a team and help fundraise by signing up at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/liverlifewalk.org\/sandiego\">liverlifewalk.org\/sandiego<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span><br \/><\/span><span><strong>LJ COMMUNITY CENTER HOSTS TRIP TO NEW GARY &amp; MARY SENIOR EMERGENCY CARE&nbsp;UNIT<\/strong><br \/><\/span><span><br \/><\/span><span>The La Jolla Community Center is planning a special tour on May 6 to the new&nbsp;state-of-the-art&nbsp;Gary &amp; Mary Senior Emergency Care Unit (SECU) at UC San Diego&nbsp;Health&#8217;s Jacobs Medical Center.&nbsp;It is first emergency care unit in the state to be&nbsp;accredited as a geriatric emergency center, with specially trained medical staff to&nbsp;address the needs of those over age 65. The design of the unit features special&nbsp;lighting, improved acoustics and other safety and comfort measures.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The bus departs at 9 a.m. and returns at 1 p.m., with stop to purchase lunch&nbsp;items. The trip is free and open to the public.&nbsp;<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>There will also be a day trip to Huntington Library and Gardens on Wednesday,&nbsp;<br \/>April 24. The trip will explore the expansive estate near Pasadena&nbsp;that features art galleries, a library of rare manuscripts and&nbsp;one of&nbsp;the world&#8217;s finest botanical gardens. The cost is $75 members and $85 for non-members.
