ROMAN\u00a0DE SALVO\u2019S “MCCAIRN” MURAL INSTALLED BY MURALS OF LA JOLLA

A mural by\u00a0Roman\u00a0de Salvo\u2019s\u00a0mural is now located above a BMW repair shop on La Jolla Boulevard in the Bird Rock. The mural,\u00a0titled “McCairn,” is a juxtaposition of antiquity and modernity perched above the building on a\u00a0two-sided site that is reminiscent of a\u00a0billboard surface. “McCairn”\u00a0playfully recalls the original commercial purpose of such a sign with the\u00a0iconic double arches of the\u00a0McDonald\u2019s logo re-imagined through carefully stacked stones.<\/span><\/p>\n

FREE WATERCOLOR CLASS HELD AT LAWRENCE FAMILY JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER<\/strong><\/div>\n

A\u00a0<\/span>free watercolor painting class will be held every Tuesday starting April 2 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the\u00a0<\/span>Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center,<\/div>\n

4126 Executive Drive. The class will run until June 4. There is no charge to attend the classes and no prior experience is required. Classes will be hosted by Plein air artist\u00a0Sharon Hinckley.\u00a0<\/p>\n

NOVELIST NATHAN ENGLANDER TO VISIT JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER<\/strong><\/p>\n

Novelist Nathan Englander\u00a0will be making a book tour stop at the Garfield Theatre in the\u00a0Jewish Community Center in La Jolla\u00a0Friday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m. to promote “<\/span>Kaddish.com<\/a>: A Novel” and host a discussion alongside the artistic director of The Old\u00a0Globe,\u00a0Barry Edelstein.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Join the Pulitzer finalist\u00a0for Shabbat dinner and conversation about his new book.\u00a0The brilliant, streamlined comic novel is\u00a0about a\u00a0son’s failure to say Kaddish for his father and his subsequent hiring of a stranger through a website called\u00a0<\/span>kaddish.com<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0recite the\u00a0daily prayer and shepherd his father’s soul safely to rest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lodge\u2019s\u00a0culinary event season kicks off with The Grill\u2019s\u00a0Playing with Fire guest chef\u00a0series, featuring Eric Gallerstein and\u00a0Jacob\u00a0Bartlett from Mastiff Sausage Company on Monday,\u00a0April 1.\u00a0Following this event will be the first Artisan Table Signature Wine\u00a0dinner\u00a0of the series on\u00a0Thursday, April 4, featuring ZD Wines from\u00a0Napa Valley.<\/span><\/p>\n
