SDCP is the regional entity created as a community choice energy program to put San Diego and participating cities on the path toward 100% renewable energy.\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;San Diego is creating a regional clean energy program to power our communities, make rates competitive and create new green jobs for working families,&#8221; said San Diego Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer. &#8220;We\u2019re encouraging San Diegans to join the effort and have their voices heard by applying to be on the Community Advisory Committee.&#8221;<br \/>\nSan Diego is the largest American city to pursue a clean energy community choice program. SDCP has a goal of delivering power as soon as 2021.<br \/>\n&#8220;This new advisory committee will help guide and direct SDCP in developing an annual work plan and achieving our strategic goals,&#8221; said Cody Hooven, SDCP\u00a0Interim Executive Officer\u00a0and Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of San Diego. &#8220;It is crucial that we have a diverse representation of the cities we serve.&#8221;<br \/>\nApplicants to the SDCP Community Advisory Committee must be residents or business owners within one of the five member cities, or representatives of a community-based organization serving one or more of the cities. Two applicants from each member city will be nominated by their city\u2019s respective board members.<br \/>\n&#8220;The creation of a community choice energy program has given our communities a seat at the table on energy decisions,&#8221; said City Councilmember Monica Montgomery, SDCP Board Member. &#8220;We are forming this Community Advisory Committee to ensure our\u00a0residents\u00a0are heard throughout the process as we develop a work plan for this organization.&#8221;\u00a0<br \/>\nNominees will be presented for board approval at the March 26 meeting. Applications are being accepted through Friday, Feb. 28.
