Don Parks of La Jolla Light is vice president. Secretary is Julie Wright of (W)right on Communications and Kelli Metcalf of Granite Escrow was named treasurer.<br \/>\n&#8220;This really is a new era on the board,&#8221; said LJVMA\u2019s new executive director Jodi Rudick.<br \/>\nElizabeth Studebaker, neighborhood investment manager for the City of San Diego, clued the LJVMA board in on the upcoming City of San Diego Business Walk on Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.<br \/>\n&#8220;We need to recruit a handful of volunteers for the business walk,&#8221; noted Studebaker about the Dec. 5 walk wherein LJVMA board members and City staff will engage merchants telling them what LJVMA has to offer.<br \/>\n&#8220;We\u2019ll have precincts made up and for three to four hours we\u2019ll walk door-to-door,&#8221; said Rudick.<br \/>\n&#8220;This is like a block captain walk on steroids,&#8221; said board president Murphy referring to LJVMA board members actively outreaching in the Village.<br \/>\n&#8220;This is a great way to introduce LJVMA to your businesses and merchants,&#8221; said Studebaker. &#8220;It\u2019s really LJVMA working to promote the resources we have. We\u2019re here to bring resources \u2014 and the city has a bunch of them.&#8221;<br \/>\nOf strategic planning, Rudick said, &#8220;Next month\u2019s meeting will be interactive and extended in order to create a strategic plan for the coming year.\u00a0 We want to focus on the common goal of bringing business to La Jolla Village.\u00a0 Everyone is encouraged to attend this meeting for all or part of the program in order to share and prioritize ideas.&#8221;<br \/>\nAdded Rudick, &#8220;Collaboration, creativity and community are the driving force of our success.&#8221;\u00a0 In other action:<br \/>\nLa Jolla Parks and Beaches member Phyllis Minick extended an open invitation for people to join a celebration marking the conclusion of the Children\u2019s Pool Plaza beautification project on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the pool at 850 Coast Blvd. &#8220;We\u2019ll have treats and an ice cream truck and music by Ron Jones,&#8221; said Minick who added a plaque naming major project donors will be embedded in a rock on the plaza site.<br \/>\nClaudette Berwin reported this year\u2019s Pillage The Village Halloween haunting for children was bigger and better than ever. &#8220;Five years ago it started really small, but the La Jolla Real Estate Brokers Association (REBA) wanted to be more involved promoting community sponsorships and goodie bags, as well as a costume contest,&#8221; said Berwin adding, &#8220;The whole purpose of starting Pillage was to bring more business to merchants. The event is really positive and Girard merchants always need more candy.
