Opening night\u2019s performance starts at 8 p.m. and will be located at The David &#038; Dorothea Garfield Theatre of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, 4126 Executive Drive. <b>OB Pier pancake breakfast mixes fun, fundraising<\/b> OCEAN BEACH \u2014 An Ocean Beach community fundraising tradition is returning to the pier with butter and syrup on top. The Ocean Beach Pier Pancake Breakfast is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 17 from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Pancakes will be complemented with a full toppings bar, eggs, sausage, fruit and drinks. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 8. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Ocean Beach Holiday Parade and Christmas Toy and Food Drive, which is put together by the Ocean Beach Town Council and Ocean Beach MainStreet Association. The breakfast includes a raffle that with prizes like hotel stays and passes to the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park. Singer\/songwriter Rob Mehl will provide the tunes as breakfast buffs put away the pancakes. An estimated 650 people are expected to attend this breakfast that usually sells out. Tickets will be left at will call, located near the front of the pier. \u2014 Anthony Gentile <b>PLNU hosts annual Fall Festival<\/b> POINT LOMA \u2014 Officials with Point Loma Nazarene University will again welcome neighbors and friends to the school\u2019s sprawling Fall Festival on Oct. 16. The free annual event will include animal rides and a petting zoo, live music, a historical campus tour, carriage rides, exhibit booths, food, a pumpkin patch and an electronics recycling drive. Food samples will be made available by the presenting sponsor, Bartel Hotels, while a family fun zone will be created with climbing walls, face painting, bounce houses, story time, pony rides, kids\u2019 crafts and a ferris wheel. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. At 2 p.m., university President Bob Brower will welcome participants with an ice cream social and a grand-prize drawing. The event will also focus on wellness demonstrations and provide an opportunity for residents to dispose of electronics like televisions, computers, printers, cell phones and other items. For more information, visit www.pointloma.edu\/fallfestival. <b>Mind the cyclists<\/b> PACIFIC BEACH \u2014 Residents of Pacific Beach are being cautioned that about 2,500 cyclists will be riding through the area on Sunday morning, Oct. 17. The cyclists, in conjunction with The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, will be on a 50-mile trek as part of the 27th annual Bike MS Bay to Bay Tour in order to raise money for MS research, programs and services. Several area roads will be affected, such as Crown Point Drive, Pacific Beach Drive and Grand Avenue. The race begins at 7 a.m. and cyclists are expected to finish in San Diego\u2019s Mission Bay area around 10:30 a.m. Registration information, as well as event information, is available at www.biketofinishMS.com. <b>SD Harbor Excursions offers free cruise<\/b> DOWNTOWN \u2014 On Oct. 22, San Diego Harbor Excursion will officially change its name to Flagship Cruises and Events after 95 years of operations. The company will mark the event with a free inaugural cruise on the Cabrillo on Friday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. The boat has a capacity of 250 passengers and the first to arrive at 1050 N. Harbor Drive will be admitted. Old Town is known to be one of the most haunted places in San Diego because of paranormally-active locations such as the Whaley House and its grounds.
