{"id":256089,"date":"2018-04-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-04-04T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/discover-pbs-annual-awards-night-highlights-local-businesses\/"},"modified":"2018-04-04T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-04-04T07:00:00","slug":"discover-pbs-annual-awards-night-highlights-local-businesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/discover-pbs-annual-awards-night-highlights-local-businesses\/","title":{"rendered":"Discover PB\u2019s annual awards night highlights local businesses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The tally is in and winners in three different categories \u2013 Design and Improvement, New Business, and Heart of PB \u2013 were announced at Discover PB\u2019s annual dinner awards and casino night gala March 29.<br \/>\nThis year\u2019s winners:<br \/>\nn Outstanding Volunteer, Tim Pruesener, iCatch Marketing;\u00a0<br \/>\nn Community Partner, James McGuirk, formerly of Councilmember Zapf\u2019s office;\u00a0<br \/>\nn Mike Duran Community Spirit Award, Andie LaComb;<br \/>\nn Community Patron, Ty Hauter, Good Time Design;\u00a0<br \/>\nn New Business of the Year, The Grass Skirt;\u00a0<br \/>\nn Design and Improvement, Better Buzz Pacific Beach West;\u00a0<br \/>\nn Heart of PB award, Pernicano\u2019s Family Restaurant (with more than 70 years in business, John Pernicano was there to accept this well-deserved award despite having recent surgery).<br \/>\nAnnounced in early\u00a0January, award nominees, posted\u00a0on\u00a0the Discover PB\u00a0website\u00a0and\u00a0social media outlets, are voted on by the public to determine the winners. Winners were announced aboard the William\u00a0B.\u00a0Evans\u00a0Sternwheeler at the Catamaran Resort Hotel.\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;Discover PB would not be able to accomplish all that it does without the volunteers that make it all possible,&#8221; said Discover PB executive director Sara Berns. &#8220;The annual dinner and awards is a chance to recognize those people.&#8221;<br \/>\nas well as outstanding businesses in our district that have helped to improve the community, either through opening a new business that improves an area or service, updating a storefront or having stood the test of time as a staple in PB.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\nHeart of PB winner Pernicano\u2019s, representing staying power, resilience and innovation, will now be submitted to the Small Business Association and the BID council to represent PB in a\u00a0citywide competition for Business of the Year. \u00a0 \u00a0<br \/>\nRecent winners\u00a0of the New Business award include: Randall\u2019s Sandals (2017), Order Up (2016), Iron Pig\u00a0Alehouse (2015),\u00a0and\u00a0The Baked Bear (2014).<br \/>\nRecent winners\u00a0of the Design and\u00a0Improvement\u00a0award\u00a0include:\u00a0Pueblo\u00a0(2017),\u00a0Backyard Kitchen and Tap\u00a0(2016),\u00a0The Point at\u00a0Ingraham\u00a0(2015),\u00a0and\u00a0The Patio on Lamont\u00a0(2014).<br \/>\nRecent winners\u00a0of the\u00a0Heart of PB award\u00a0include:\u00a0Yogurt on the Rocks\u00a0(2017), Turquoise\u00a0Coffee\/Cellars\u00a0(2016),\u00a0PB Shore Club\u00a0(2015) and San Diego Surf School\u00a0(2014).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The tally is in and winners in three different categories \u2013 Design and Improvement, New Business, and Heart of PB \u2013 were announced at Discover PB\u2019s annual dinner awards and casino night gala March 29.
