{"id":255390,"date":"2020-02-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-21T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/letter-to-the-editor-feb-21-2020\/"},"modified":"2020-02-21T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2020-02-21T08:00:00","slug":"letter-to-the-editor-feb-21-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/letter-to-the-editor-feb-21-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Letter to the Editor \u2013 Feb. 21, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Chris Olsen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>[In response to &#8220;D3&#8217;s passionate policy wonk&#8221; which ran in the Feb. 7 issue of Uptown News]<\/em><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Many Uptown News readers were puzzled by Chris Olsen\u2019s belief that \u201ca bad communications roll out\u201d was the real problem with the Faulconer-Ward plan to replace all 30th Street parking with bike lanes and \u201ca comprehensive parking management strategy\u201d would have mollified the community.<\/p>\n<p>No amount of spin or \u2018splaining would persuade us that City Hall should carve out a disproportionate amount of road space to benefit a small group of people. Residential parking permits won\u2019t help customers from outside North Park who come here to shop and eat. And where will we cram in enough parallel or head-in parking to replace nearly 500 lost spaces?<\/p>\n<p>Given that he is running for our District 3 seat, I don\u2019t think Chris meant to be dismissive of opponents of 30th Street parking removal.
