Around 20,000 hungry patrons will taste, sip, shop and play their way through the best that North Park and South Park have to offer.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing top restaurants and breweries from neighboring communities, SoNo will feature over 40 chefs and 20 breweries in a competitive environment. Who will win the crown for the best pot of chili in the city?<\/p>\n<p>Participating restaurants include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>tacos de ciudad<\/li>\n<li>Anthem Vegan<\/li>\n<li>Dunedin North Park<\/li>\n<li>Punto de referencia p\u00fablico<\/li>\n<li>Hamilton\u2019s<\/li>\n<li>Bar peque\u00f1o<\/li>\n<li>Soda y cerdo<\/li>\n<li>bajo vientre<\/li>\n<li>Uptown Tavern<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Battling it out for bragging rights to the best pot of chili in the city, the festival features 40 chefs from prominent restaurants in the neighborhood, each offering up a special chili inspired by their locale. Not limited to the traditional bean-and-beef chili recipes, chefs pull out all the stops with their creative concoctions.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_31583\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-31583\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-31583 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sduptownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Chef-Rich.jpg\" alt=\"Popular chili challenge returns\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/450;\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-31583\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chef Rich Sweeney of Waypoint Public in North Park stirs a pot of chili.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Past winners have included a Japanese curry chili from Underbelly, a smoked lamb leg and tri-tip chipotle chili from Toronado, and a shrimp and seafood \u201csausage-style\u201d smoked chili with smoked jalape\u00f1o cream from South Park Brewing Company.<\/p>\n<p>Vegetarian and vegan creations ensure there\u2019s something for everyone, with standout tastings from notable establishments such as Kindred and Anthem Vegan.<\/p>\n<p>Commemorative festival mugs and ceramic bowls from San Diego Ceramic Connection will be sold for $20, and will include five chili tastings. Five additional tastings can be purchased for $15.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Drawing on North Park\u2019s reputation as a craft beer mecca, SoNo Fest &amp; Chili Cook-Off\u2019s beer garden features 20 breweries from the surrounding areas. Hop heads will be able to purchase pours ($6 each) from newcomers such as a Bivouac Ciderworks and Boochcraft.<\/p>\n<p>New for this year, Cutwater Spirits will be cracking open their famous canned cocktails from their designated pop-up.
