The closest thing to a historical relic you\u2019ll see here is a working pay phone standing against the front of the building.<\/p>\n<p>So to visualize the distant past of these surroundings, you\u2019ll have to use your imagination or peruse the old-time photographs hanging on the wall showing nameless peeps dressed in Western garb.<\/p>\n<p>A long copper-top bar leading to a few billiard tables in the saloon\u2019s roomy back area reminds me of what neighborhood drinking establishments felt like before they became gentrified, back when you set out for cheap beer and well drinks while shooting the breeze with whoever entered your space.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_31536\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-31536\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-31536 size-full lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sduptownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Old-Town-Saloon-drink2-copy.jpg\" alt=\"Where generations have drunk\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 600px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 600\/450;\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-31536\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vodka with cranberry juice\u00a0<em>(Foto por Dr. Ink)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Indeed, this is one of those divey sanctuaries where you stick around for the long run before stumbling down the street for a sobering burrito since the saloon doesn\u2019t serve food \u2014 not even chips or pretzels.<\/p>\n<p>Or you end up here as a rousing last stop to your bar crawl. I did the latter a few times in earlier days \u2014 and in a rather hammered state.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-31591 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sduptownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Old-Town-Saloon-sidebar-205x300.png\" alt=\"Where generations have drunk\" width=\"205\" height=\"300\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 205px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 205\/300;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Regular drink prices are inexpensive, and they dip down by about a buck during happy hour.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-31592 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sduptownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/Old-Town-Saloon-ratings-340x1024.png\" alt=\"Where generations have drunk\" width=\"200\" height=\"602\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 200px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 200\/602;\" \/>I paid $4 for a rocks glass of Seagram\u2019s Vodka with cranberry juice and lime garnish. That\u2019s the going happy-hour bargain for all well drinks, and the liquor pour was neither weak nor generous. Ditto for the others that followed.<\/p>\n<p>Bottled domestic beers during happy hour are $3.50, imported bottles are $4.50 and drafts are $1 off from a short list of domestics and crafts \u2014 Coors, Bud Light, Sculpin, Shock Top and a few others.<\/p>\n<p>Expectedly, several flat-screens hang throughout the bar. They were showing a mix of sports and movies, thankfully without sound.<\/p>\n<p>It was the catchy hodgepodge of music playing from the modern-style jukebox that kept me sticking around \u2014 tunes by Rush, Janis Joplin, Rihanna and Johnny Cash.<\/p>\n<p>A few minutes before leaving, \u201cAlabama Song (Whisky Bar)\u201d by The Doors came on, with Jim Morrison singing provocatively: \u201cShow me the way to the next whisky bar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several patrons at the bar and pool tables sang along, but they were too content in this festive environment to heed his command.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By\u00a0Dr. Ink According to a bartender at the Old Town Saloon, the property dates back to the late 1800s and has operated as a watering hole since the 1930s.
