Mission Hills Concerts in the Park summer concert series continues tonight from 6 \u2013 8 p.m. at Pioneer Park (1521 Washington Place, Mission Hills). One of seven weekly concerts will feature Sue Palmer. Known as the “Queen of Boogie Woogie,” Palmer’s career has taken her around the world playing styles from blues to jazz and more. Attendees are invited to bring blankets and picnic baskets and enjoy the music with neighbors and friends. There will be a book sale by the Friends of the Mission Hills Branch Library on Saturday, July 16 from 9:30 a.m. \u2013 12:30 p.m. The library’s summer reading program will continue with an event by Pacific Animal Production on Thursday, July 21 where kids can get up close with real wild animals; and a puppet show by Gaston Morineau on Thursday, July 28. San Diego Art Institute (1439 El Prado, Balboa Park) has several summer camps with morning and afternoon sessions for kindergarten \u2013 third grade and fourth \u2013 eighth grade. From Monday, July 18 \u2013 Friday, July 22 the “Trash Mash Up Camp” will teach about indigenous cultures and conservation with lessons on making ceremonial costumes from non-recyclable materials. Monday, Aug. 1 \u2013 Friday, Aug. 5, the “Fiber Arts Camp” focuses on fiber as an art material utilizing different techniques to create various pieces.
