(Via Facebook)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Tessier told San Diego Uptown News that he would uphold the restaurant\u2019s Asian-fusion concept and start introducing a few new dishes around the holidays, such as Peking duck. <em>555 Market St., 619-501-9158<\/em>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>A farewell gathering for Chef Chad White \u2014 who started his San Diego career at the former <strong>Sea Rocket Bistro<\/strong> in North Park before launching <strong>Comun Kitchen &amp; Tavern<\/strong> in East Village \u2014 will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Dec. 3 at <strong>Carnitas Snack Shack<\/strong>. White and the network are staying tight-lipped about the outcome. Also appearing on the show are chefs Javier Plascencia of the new <strong>Bracero<\/strong> in Little Italy, and Richard Blais of <strong>Juniper &amp; Ivy<\/strong> and The <strong>Crack Shack.<\/strong> Blais is a former \u201cTop Chef All Stars\u201d winner who has been serving as a judge for the show for the past few years.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholehogsd.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Whole Hog<\/strong> in North Park will change its name to <strong>The Smok&#8217;d Hog<\/strong><\/a> the day after Thanksgiving, and the original logo will get updated text to support the name change.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sduptownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/The-Smokd-Hog.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-23490 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/sduptownnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/The-Smokd-Hog-300x294.jpeg\" alt=\"logo try 11\" width=\"250\" height=\"245\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 250px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 250\/245;\" \/><\/a>\u201cWe never intended on growing so fast and did not put much effort into a long term branding strategy,\u201d owner Chris McAfee said in a statement. \u201cNow that we are established and gaining significant local and national attention, we put a lot of effort into a strong branding strategy. Business across the USA use names that have variations the phrase \u2018Whole Hog\u2019 but no one uses \u2018Smok\u2019d Hog,\u2019 and because we are launching our own hog sauce this coming year and still less than a year old, the timing was right.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The basics for making sausage will be covered in an intimate hands-on class at 5 p.m. Nov. 22 at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theheartandtrotter.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carnicer\u00eda de animales enteros The Heart &amp; Trotter<\/a><\/strong> in North Park. Attendees will be shown how to grind, spice and case various sausages before each taking home nearly three pounds of the links they prepare. The restaurant specializes in \u201cslow food done fast\u201d and has locations in Liberty Station, La Jolla and Downtown. Expect a core menu of salads, sandwiches and meal plates that use fresh ingredients bought from regional farmers and ranchers. Launched by TS Restaurants, based in San Diego and Maui, the restaurant is named after the late Duke Kahanamoku, a native Hawaiian and six-time Olympic swimming and water polo medalist who is considered \u201cthe father of modern-day surfing.\u201d Amid vintage memorabilia, customers can dine on dishes such as charred snap peas with burnt pineapple vinaigrette, Tahitian-style octopus, Kalbi short ribs, and more. <em>1216 Prospect St., 858-454-5888<\/em>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>After a lackluster run on Midway Drive in Point Loma, the owner of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.du-pars.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Du-par\u2019s Restaurant &amp; Bakery<\/a><\/strong> has closed the 24\/7 eatery in preparation for moving it to the Gaslamp Quarter, directly beneath the second-level <strong>Oceanaire Seafood Room<\/strong>. With locations in Las Vegas and the Los Angeles area, the restaurant is famous for its home-style meals, freshly baked pies, and jumbo pancakes accompanied by melted, clarified butter.
