Timken Museum of Art in Balboa Park held a masquerade gala on Oct. 30 featuring two parties: the Orange & Black Ball and the Timken After Dark Cocktail Party.<\/p>\n

Led by Gala co-chairs Joye D. Blount and Jessie J. Knight Jr., honorary co-chairs Joy A. and Ward J. Timken and Sue and WR Timken Jr. and Art co-chairs David Bull and Teresa Longyear, the masquerade-optional black tie event commemorated the museum\u2019s 50th anniversary. Event proceeds will provide essential financial support and awareness for Timken\u2019s arts education and outreach programs that include art experiences for the military and their families, seniors in nursing homes, and children in juvenile hall.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Timken has played a vital role in the arts and culture of San Diego for 50 years. Not only has the museum welcomed over five million visitors to its priceless collection, but the team has taken art out into the community through its outreach programs, clearly demonstrating art is a bridge that transcends generations and enriches lives,\u201d Blount said.<\/p>\n

Megan Pogue, the museum\u2019s general manager, said: \u201cThe Orange & Black Ball is the museum\u2019s most significant fundraising event; it generates vital support towards our mission of presenting free, world-class art to an ever-broadening public.\u201d<\/p>\n
