The work created by\u00a0Boroka Nagy of Irvine is called an unexpected,\u00a0physically demanding\u00a0work for the women of the company.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Kevin Jenkins of San Francisco has created\u00a0a contemporary ballet duet for\u00a0PGK dancers Jennifer Puls and John Paul.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Lawson Andrew Pearson of\u00a0Los Angeles premieres a stylized and \u201cgroovy\u201d work.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Blythe Barton, director of Blythe Barton Dance in San Diego, restages \u201cCinema of a Certain Tension,\u201d returning after\u00a0three sold-out shows at\u00a0San Diego Dances at Bread &amp; Salt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Artistic Director Peter G. Kalivas presents premieres and audience favorites. \u201cDon\u2019t Touch\u201d is a\u00a0fun, clever look at temptation and was created in collaboration with\u00a0PGK dancer\/choreographer Alyssa Junious. \u201cStay with Me\u201d premiers with \u201clive vocals\u201d by Kalivas, who is also an accomplished singer, and is a duet featuring new PGK members\u00a0Jenny Henkel and Ron Davis. \u201cOde\u201d is created for new PGK Natalia Hill. Kalivas&#8217; group work \u201cThere &amp; Back\u201d (2009)\u00a0returns,\u00a0inspired by the\u00a0company\u2019s first tour\u00a0to Central Asia and getting caught up in\u00a0a sandstorm. \u201cListen,\u201d a duet that is premiering,\u00a0was created and will be performed by new company member James LeMaster and apprentice Nicole Lee in collaboration with Kalivas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe Sound of Dance\u201d is conceived and directed by Kalivas, created with Kristina Cobarrubia (flamenco), Divya Devaguptapu (classical Indian) and John Paul Lawson (tap). It puts together forms that rely on sound production for\u00a0their expression and is a returning hit with audiences\u00a0following its premiere at Bread &amp; Salt.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cBeginning to End\u201d (2011) displays\u00a0a gay and a lesbian couple, one at\u00a0the beginning and the other simultaneously at the end of their relationships. This work was originally commissioned by\u00a0The Diversionary Theater.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Sean Curran\u2019s (1997) \u201cFolk Dance for the Future\u201d will close out each show. The company dons Scottish kilts and lets Irish folk and modern dance collide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and 19 and at 2 p.m. Sept. 20. Tickets are priced from $10 to $20.
