Animal Adventure Camp<\/strong>
\nThrough Friday, Aug. 7<\/strong><\/p>\n

These weeklong educational summer camps are being held throughout the summer at the San Diego Humane Society\u2019s San Diego Campus (5500 Gaines St., Linda Vista\/Morena). Children will enjoy an interactive camp teaching compassion and respect for all living creatures. There will be games, crafts and hands-on animal activities with dogs, cats, guinea pigs and more. Camp is held weekdays from 9 a.m. \u2013 3 p.m. for children ages 5 \u2013 13. Children 14 years of age and over can apply as volunteers for a week of camp. Greyt Food<\/strong>
\nTuesday, July 7<\/strong><\/p>\n

Neighborhood eatery Circa (2121 Adams Ave., University Heights) will host this dining fundraiser to benefit San Diego\u2019s Greyhound Adoption Center. A portion of all food and beverage sales for the night will aid in the rescue of retired racing greyhounds. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with a three-course meal for $35. Exhibition: \u201cCommon Ground\u201d <\/strong>

This exhibit at Gallery 21 (1770 Village Place, Spanish Village in Balboa Park) will feature the works of 21 Allied Craftsmen artists. The group promotes local artisans, produces exhibitions and offers high-quality art for sale. For this exhibit, their work will be in a wide range of media including pottery, ceramic, glass, jewelry and more. The show is free and open to the public. Earthen Dome Building Workshop<\/strong>
\nSaturday, July 11 \u2013 Thursday, July 16<\/strong><\/p>\n

This six-day hands-on workshop with local architects and builders will work to construct a 10-foot diameter, earthbag dome structure from local materials. The construction process will include completion of the dome along with door and window installations and more. The workshop will prepare participants to apply learned techniques and build their own structures. The workshop is 9 a.m. \u2013 4 p.m. daily. The course fee is $500 (or $150 daily). Underground Jazz Session<\/strong>
\nTuesday, July 14<\/strong><\/p>\n

This monthly session is held at 3rdSpace Co-Working and Club for the Creative (4610 Park Blvd., University Heights). July\u2019s event will start at 8 p.m. featuring local jazz musicians in a speakeasy style venue. The house band features Joshua White (piano), Ryan McDiarmid (drums) and Ben Wanicur (bass) along with guest artists. $5 cover, open to all ages. Centennial Celebration Plein Air Paint Out<\/strong>
\nSaturday, July 18<\/strong><\/p>\n

Three sites in Balboa Park have been designated for this free event: the Alcazar Garden, the Zoro Garden and the pedestrian walkway between the San Diego History Center (SDHC) and Casa del Prado. The \u201cpaint out\u201d will be from 9 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m. followed by a reception with light refreshments from 3 \u2013 4 p.m. at the San Diego History Center (1649 El Prado, Suite 3, Balboa Park). Museum entry will be free to the public during the reception. Artists can check in for the day at the SDHC or at tables at the three painting locations. South Park Summer Walkabout<\/strong>

This quarterly event returns to South Park businesses from 6 \u2013 10 p.m. The area between Juniper and 30th\/Fern streets and 30th and Grape streets will be the site for the festivities. Businesses in the area will offer specials, entertainment and extended hours. The Walkabout is free and open to all ages. A walking tour will take place at 6:30 p.m. hosted by Urban Safaris starting at The Grove (3010 Juniper St.).
