ArtLab Studios in Normal Heights will be hosting \u201cWhen Creatives Collide: A photography and graphic collaboration by Jarett Boskovich and Louis Guzman\u201d Dec. 17 \u2013 18. <\/p>\n

Starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, ArtLab, will host two former San Diego Uptown News employees in their latest creative venture. The Studio is located at 3536 Adams Ave. <\/p>\n

Jarett Boskovich, former photographer for Uptown News and Gay San Diego, said he is excited about the atmosphere of the Studio and said the exhibit was \u201cabout gathering friends and having a good time while admiring local artists.\u201d<\/p>\n

“I discovered my passion for photography and visual arts at an early age, but it wasn\u2019t until I started to travel and live abroad that I really started to love photography,\u201d Boskovich said. Boskovich has traveled to Italy, France and South Korea.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a photographer, I have learned to observe life all around me and see things in a different light. A single photograph can forever have an impact on ones life,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Guzman, former art director for Uptown News and Gay San Diego, said his artistic inspirations come from his hometown of San Francisco as well as an old friend. <\/p>\n

Guzman\u2019s series \u201cEssential Vagabond\u201d was inspired by his friend, Christian Bolding. \u201cHe is one of the most talented artist that I know,\u201d Guzman said. \u201cHe possesses a raw talent that I have not witnessed in my years of doing commercial photography and graphic design.\u201d <\/p>\n

When they rekindled their friendship, Bolding gave Guzman a series of journals Bolding kept over 18 years. \u201c[The] journals are filled with drawings, scribbles, postcards [and] Polaroid\u2019s, and are written in three languages,\u201d Guzman said. \u201cI took these and produced a series that questions sexuality, despair, frustration and travel.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere Do All My Rubies Shine,\u201d another series by Guzman on display at ArtLab Studios, is based on architecture in San Francisco. \u201cI chose to blur them for a specific reason. I have not lived in San Francisco for almost six years and every time I visit, the city becomes more of a stranger to me\u2026. It makes me feel as if we are becoming strangers and are unrecognizable to each other,\u201d Guzman said. \u201cThe text additions are words that I have found profound and poetic in their meanings.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boskovich said a reflection of his philosophy in life is what the viewer will find at \u201cWhen Creatives Collide.\u201d \u201cSurround yourself with ambitious people who understand beauty and value time.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
